This Sunday's message examined an action by Jesus that in the ancient world was considered so lowly and demeaning that even the lowest slaves in the household did not wish to do it, and yet Christ himself willfully performed the action: Feet washing. This action was synonymous with slavery and that is the point: Christ, the King of creature, became a slave for his creatures to cleanse them from sin and redeem them to himself. This is an incredible picture of Jesus practicing humility that we are commanded to follow.
