Beschreibung

To the black girls who struggle with being still, who feel like resting is failure, and who long to finally feel like they can just breathe, I see you. In our last episode for April’s The Vulnerability of Something New series, we take a deep look at the vulnerability of rest, releasing, and what many of us black women know affectionately as exhaling. Joining me is wellness tech founder and life coach Katara McCarty, who bravely launched the Exhale App, a mindfulness and breathwork app for and by black women, in order to help us heal through reconnecting with our breath. Katara and I get cozy and discuss: * The very real legacy of harm that divorced black women from rest as a healing practice * Why she fights to keep her app for and by us, centering the needs of black women * The gifts offered to us when we return to the breath * Why we no longer have to “wait to exhale” * And small breath-focused steps to help us make a big shift in our well-being Enjoyed the episode? Episode You Deserve to Feel…Whole: Healing the Father Wound Cover

You Deserve to Feel…Whole: Healing the Father Wound

to the black girl who is living and healing from a father wound, I see you. If you’ve ever felt hurt, let down, or even harmed by any person who served in a fathering/paternal role to you, your pain is valid. So often, so many of us face these experiences, but are left to pick up the pieces alone.  Though everyone deserves grace, you also deserve to be radically honest about what you experienced, what happened, and what did not happen.  This one is for the black girl who needed to be believed, to be heard, to be understood when it came to her experiences in a painful father-daughter dynamic, but whose cries fell on closed ears. This one is for the black girl who ever shared her pain about her dad, only to be met with, “get over it” and “that’s just how men are.” This is especially for the black girl whose love for her father is at constant war with the pain you feel as a result of loving him.  I see you, and I hope this episode helps you feel safe enough to explore your pain, hold space for your compassion, and open doors to the healing you need and deserve.  Enjoyed the episode? You Deserve to Feel...Confident: The Vulnerability of Believing in Yourself | Natasha Hastings, LPCA

So many of us have strained relationships with confidence and believing in ourselves. We’re often taught that we have both “too much” and “not enough” self-confidence. The tight rope gets tighter, but our inner worlds continue to suffer. Licensed counselor and 2x Olympic Gold medalist Natasha Hastings, LPCA, OLY joins me today to help me talk about how we can practice the vulnerability of believing in yourself. We talk all things self-talk, the vulnerability of being seen AND seeing yourself, and how we can finally root for ourselves in the ways we deserve.  Enjoyed the episode? Episode feel seen this summer Cover

feel seen this summer

The summer is already a time for fun, adventure, and even exposure. Why not make this summer one where you allow yourself to be seen?  By practicing vulnerability, you allow space for your needs to get met, more intimacy, and more peace by showing up as your true self. Make this the summer you stop hiding by opening up to new practices, focused on light, freedom, and whimsy. In this episode: * We explore how allowing yourself to be seen helps you build a life you love * Areas to practice more vulnerability: in your joy, your finances, your space, your body, in pleasure and in your love * Practical suggestions, both big and small, to help you practice living seen * Reminders to encourage you along the way I look forward to what Summer 2026 has in store for us, and I hope it leaves you feeling a lot more seen, heard, energized, and hopeful.
