Episode Jesus Doesn't Beg Cover

Beschreibung

In John 6 we see the account of Jesus feeding the 5,000. The crowd’s instant reaction was to declare that He truly was the prophet they had been anticipating and was the one they wanted as their king. Even as He got away with His apostles and crossed the sea, they still pursued Him. Isn’t that exactly what we’d want? Thousands of people who believe in Jesus and are ready to follow Him, even making Him their king? Even the greatest of our seeker-sensitive, producer/consumer churches couldn’t dream of starting with a dedicated following 5,000 strong. If Jesus believed in our business-like approach, He would have been well on His way. Read more, subscribe, and/or support at jackwilkie.co [http://jackwilkie.co] This is a public episode. Episode 3 More Huge Problems with Children's Church Cover

3 More Huge Problems with Children's Church

On Tuesday I wrote about why I’m against the idea of Children’s Church, in which the little ones are ushered out of the worship service to a separate, age-specific program. This produced no shortage of feedback, with something like 250 comments across the spectrum of views. So, I went live to discuss the issue from a different angle. I believe the children’s church issue is a proxy battle for deeper differences in how we view the church, parents, and children. I explain what I mean in this video/podcast. Episode Against "Children's Church" Cover

Against "Children's Church"

Over the weekend, X user Luke Simmons stirred up some controversy with the following take [https://x.com/lukedsimmons/status/2071328498178777357] about a church he attended: Visited a healthy church in another state today… While it was sweet to see some families worshipping together, I was grieved by how distracted parents were by their small children. In my view, everyone would have been better served by utilizing the kids ministry. Weird thing to be grieved by, but apparently it caused him emotional distress to see parents having to train their children in worship. This take brought about a good deal of debate about the validity of children’s church, including takes on both sides on a post I made [https://www.facebook.com/jackwilkie89/posts/pfbid02PotakgSck9DgLsyURex537qWRfgRhHXu6ZwgxHQHPFUyj7DrWEuR4YG2xHeixgeDl] about the matter. So, I figured I’d briefly lay out the case: Here’s why children’s church should be abolished Read at jackwilkie.co [http://jackwilkie.co] ...
