Job 20: The Triumph of the Wicked

🎧 Job 20 | The Triumph of the Wicked Zophar is certain. Yesterday, Job was certain. The contrast is the point. Zophar's certainty is about a principle: the wicked will perish. Job's certainty is about a person: my Redeemer lives. When suffering hits, which one holds? Principles crack when innocent people suffer. Persons don't. The retribution theology is restated in full. But Job has already demolished it. He thinks he's describing Job's future. He is. Just not in the way he means. Because what Bildad doesn't know is that Job's response — coming tomorrow — will name the one who defeats the king of terrors.
