Beschreibung

Do the Bible's autographs ever make mistakes? Some would say yes, arguing that Paul's account of his post-conversion travels in Galatians 2 contradict that found in Acts 9 to 12. Galatians records three visits to Jerusalem including the first church Council while Acts describes four. Does it matter? Hugely, for it determines our doctrine of Scripture. Are the Scriptures "breathed out by God" (2 Tim. 3:16) and thus infallible or ultimately the work of their human authors? What seems at first a simple historical narrative, our passage today has a fundamental effect on our theology. Paul explains why no contradiction exists.

Episode 277: AUDIO; GOD KEEPS HIS ANCIENT PROMISES TO A REBELLIOUS NATION

Note; a previous episode was irretrievably corrupted but this episode repeats the lost content and thus becomes the first in the new series on the Book of Judges. The book of Judges records the chaotic period Israel's history that followed the death of Joshua, during which the nation entered a period of cyclic rejection of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to worship the evil Canaanite deities. But true to His promises, YAHWEH kept Israel from spiritual disaster by sending "Judges" who restored the nation to genuine faith following each period of apostasy until the nation installed a King, who was a "type" of the promised Messiah. We draw the unmistakable lessons for the churches today. This episode walks through Judges chapter 1 in its historical context, tracing Israel from Joshua into the early days of settlement in the promised land of Canaan.
