Orly KG founded Bad Momz of Comedy in 2022 after a career as a TV news reporter and 15 years running her own public relations firm. What started as a search for something to do once her kids became teenagers has grown into a touring comedy brand with more than 80 female comics nationwide, featured on NBC's Kelly Clarkson Show. Saturday's Galesburg show features a four-comic lineup, including Orly KG, ahead of what she calls a "no drama allowed" green room culture built around supporting each other rather than competing. Nikki Malley, owner of Malley Farms, joined Galesburg's Morning News on Tuesday, June 30, to preview Friday's First Fridays on Historic Seminary Street. First Fridays returns Friday, July 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Seminary Street in downtown Galesburg, giving the community a head start on the Fourth of July weekend. The headline act is the return of Frank F. Sydney's Western Bandit Volunteers, a beloved local bluegrass and folk group making their comeback after roughly two years away. "This is kind of their redebut for the Galesburg community," Malley said. The Galesburg Community Arts Center will handle hands-on children's activities for all ages. Restaurants along Seminary Street will offer sample-sized portions of their menu favorites, along with drink specials, while shops stay open until 8 p.m. for evening shopping. OSF St. Mary Medical Center is July's event sponsor, with Euclid Beverage providing beverage sponsorship. Malley also previewed the rest of the First Fridays season — Soul Situation, a Peoria-based soul, R&B, and funk band, on Aug. 7, and the return of the Pippi and Daniel Music and the Experience to close the season on Sept. 4.
