Why do so many women end up exhausted and resentful in relationships… while still feeling guilty for wanting more? Why do we become the one who remembers everything, carries everything and quietly keeps everything running? And why is it so hard to simply ask for what we need? In this week’s episode, I’m joined by relationship strategist and therapist Katie Rössler for a fascinating conversation about good girl conditioning in relationships. We talk about over-giving, hyper-independence, emotional labour, people pleasing and the pressure many women feel to earn love through usefulness. This conversation really got me thinking about how many women become “the reliable one” in every area of life - at work, at home, in friendships and in relationships - and how easily that can slide into resentment, burnout and completely losing ourselves in the process. We also explore: * why women often become the 'manager' instead of the partner * why hinting isn’t the same as asking directly * learning to tolerate disappointing people * the link between usefulness and self-worth * why hyper-independent women struggle to receive support * the 'glass balls vs rubber balls' analogy (which I LOVED) * and what becomes possible when women stop trying to earn love by over-functioning Honestly, this episode felt like one of those conversations where you suddenly see your own patterns much more clearly. If you’ve ever felt like you carry too much, do too much or quietly disappear inside your relationships… this one is for you. It’s time. About Katie: Katie Rössler is a relationship strategist, licensed therapist, and creator of the REBUILD method, a transformational relationship alignment program for high-achieving, international couples. She’s the author of two books, host of the Relationship Reset podcast, and has spoken on stages around the world. With over 15 years of clinical and coaching experience, Katie guides couples from silent resentment to deep reconnection and supports women in perimenopause as they evolve into the powerful, grounded leaders they’re becoming. Episode 013: Why Knowing Better Isn't Enough: How to Change the Protective Patterns Holding You Back Cover

013: Why Knowing Better Isn't Enough: How to Change the Protective Patterns Holding You Back

Have you ever found yourself thinking: I know I need to put my prices up. I know I need to be more visible. I know I should send that email. I know I need to stop overthinking. And yet... you still don't do it? In this episode of the Good Girl Rebellion Podcast, Anna Campbell is joined by coach, clinical hypnotherapist and former solicitor Annabella Zeiddar to explore why knowing what to do isn't the same as actually doing it. So many brilliant women believe they need another qualification, another course or another book before they'll finally feel ready. But what if the thing holding you back isn't a lack of knowledge? What if it's a protective pattern that's been trying to keep you safe all along? Together, Anna and Annabella explore how perfectionism, people-pleasing, procrastination and overthinking often begin as intelligent survival strategies. They discuss why we mistake these behaviours for personality traits, how Good Girl conditioning reinforces them, and why building self-trust is far more powerful than waiting to feel confident. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why knowing better isn't enough to create lasting change. • How protective patterns develop and why they feel so difficult to overcome. • Why perfectionism, procrastination and people-pleasing aren't personality flaws. • How Good Girl conditioning keeps us seeking approval long into adulthood. • The difference between confidence and self-trust. • Why tiny "turtle steps" are often the fastest route to lasting change. • Practical ways to move forward when you know what needs to change but still feel stuck. If you've ever wondered why you keep delaying the very things that would help your business and life move forward, this conversation offers a compassionate explanation and a practical way through. Episode 012: Why Capable Women Burn Out: How to Recognise High-Functioning Burnout Cover

012: Why Capable Women Burn Out: How to Recognise High-Functioning Burnout

Do you ever feel exhausted but tell yourself you're just busy? Do you keep going because everyone relies on you? Do you look like you're coping on the outside while inside you're wondering why you feel so depleted? If that feels familiar, this episode is for you. Many women think burnout is something that happens when you can no longer function. But high-functioning burnout is different. You keep working and caring. You keep showing up. And because everything looks fine from the outside, you don't realise how much you're overriding yourself until your body starts demanding to be heard. In this episode of the Good Girl Rebellion podcast, Anna Campbell is joined by holistic psychotherapist, spiritual coach and founder of Space for the Soul, Marie O'Neill, to explore why so many women become disconnected from their own needs while appearing to cope with everything around them. Together, they discuss good girl conditioning, chronic stress, nervous system regulation and why sensitivity isn't something to overcome but something to understand. They explore why so many women normalise exhaustion, what our bodies may be trying to tell us and how we can begin building a more compassionate relationship with ourselves. In this episode: * What high-functioning burnout is and why it's often difficult to recognise * Why chronic stress can become your normal state * The connection between good girl conditioning and burnout * Understanding internal gaslighting and the pressure to keep coping * Why sensitivity is a strength rather than a weakness * Learning to listen to your body's signals before they become impossible to ignore * The difference between fixing yourself and understanding yourself * Why rest shouldn't have to be earned * How boundaries can change relationships * Why self-compassion creates more lasting change than self-criticism * What becomes possible when women stop overriding themselves and start listening to themselves If you've ever looked fine on the outside while feeling exhausted on the inside, this conversation will remind you that you don't have to wait until you break before you start listening to yourself. About Marie Marie O'Neill is a holistic psychotherapist, a spiritual coach and founder of Space for the Soul, where she helps highly sensitive people heal from chronic stress, burnout and trauma by working with the body, the nervous system, mind and soul. Her work combines psychotherapy, mindful self-compassion and nervous system regulation, helping people understand that their sensitivity isn't something to overcome, but something to understand. https://www.spaceforthesoul.co.uk/ [https://www.spaceforthesoul.co.uk/] If you'd like to learn more about understanding your highly sensitive nervous system and working with it rather than against it, Marie has created a free 30-minute Sensitivity Masterclass. Episode 011: Why Midlife Changes Everything: How to Redefine Success On Your Terms Cover

011: Why Midlife Changes Everything: How to Redefine Success On Your Terms

Do you ever find yourself wondering whether the life you’ve built still works for you? Do you feel less willing to tolerate things you used to accept, less interested in making everyone comfortable and more aware that your time and energy matter? Do you sometimes look around and think: this all looks successful on paper… so why doesn’t it feel quite right anymore? If that feels familiar, this episode is for you. This episode of the Good Girl Rebellion podcast is a little different from usual. Before the podcast existed, Anna joined relationship specialist Katie Rossler as part of the Behind the Transformation summit for a conversation about perimenopause. Katie kindly gave permission for the interview to be shared because while the conversation starts with hormones and midlife, it quickly becomes something much bigger. Together, Anna and Katie explore why midlife can feel like such a turning point for women and what happens when the strategies that made us successful no longer feel sustainable. They discuss good girl conditioning, identity, productivity, boundaries and the possibility that what we often experience as frustration, irritability or restlessness may actually be information. Instead of being signs that something is wrong, maybe they are signs that something is changing. This is a conversation about redefining success, becoming more intentional and asking whether the life you’ve built still reflects what you actually want. In this episode: • Why perimenopause can become a moment of recalibration rather than decline • Good girl conditioning and what happens when being capable and accommodating no longer feels sustainable • Why anger and irritability may be information rather than something to suppress • The idea that our nervous system can start withdrawing consent from overfunctioning and people pleasing • Identity audits and asking whether the life you’ve built still fits • Renegotiating our relationship with productivity, ambition and success in midlife • Boundaries, resentment and learning to pause before automatically saying yes • Becoming more visible, less people pleasing and creating a life that feels more aligned • Why asking “how do I get back to who I was?” may be the wrong question • Becoming more yourself rather than becoming somebody different If you’ve been feeling the tension between who you’ve always been and who you’re becoming, this conversation is for you. Episode 010: Why Women Strive: How to Stop Chasing and Start Choosing Cover

010: Why Women Strive: How to Stop Chasing and Start Choosing

Do you ever reach a milestone and immediately move the goalposts? Do you find yourself thinking: I’ll slow down after this launch, this month, this next thing… only to realise there is always another thing? Do you feel driven and ambitious but secretly wonder why success still feels further away than it should? If that feels familiar, this episode is for you. This week on the Good Girl Rebellion podcast, Anna is joined by psychotherapist, mindful compassion coach and retreat leader Ange Cameron to talk about striving. At first, this conversation looks like it’s about ambition. But it quickly becomes something much bigger. Together, Anna and Ange explore the difference between healthy ambition and proving, why so many women feel pressure to keep achieving without ever arriving, and how messages around productivity, resilience and “having it all” can quietly disconnect us from ourselves. They talk about the difference between building from choice versus building from fear, why women often move from one set of expectations to another and call it freedom, and whether success is supposed to feel this exhausting. This is a conversation about enough. About seasons. About learning to distinguish capability from endless endurance. And about asking whether the life you’re building is actually the one you want. In this episode: • What striving really means and why many women don’t recognise it in themselves • The difference between healthy ambition and proving your worth • Why reaching milestones doesn’t always create fulfilment • The connection between good girl conditioning and achievement • The hidden cost of constantly moving the goalposts • Why rest is not laziness and what happens in the brain when we recharge • Resilience versus capability and learning to honour your capacity • Building businesses and lives in seasons rather than constant output • Internal validation, self-worth and coming back to yourself • What becomes possible when women stop striving to become more and start trusting they already are enough If you’ve ever felt exhausted by chasing the next milestone or wondered whether there is another way to succeed without abandoning yourself in the process, this conversation is for you. About Ange For 34 years, Ange Cameron has been helping people navigate life’s challenges with greater courage, self-awareness and compassion. She’s a psychotherapist, mindful compassion coach, sauna master and retreat leader who works with both individuals and organisations across Scotland and leads wild retreats in Scotland and the Azores, Portugal, where coaching, mindfulness, nature and meaningful connection come together. Her work is rooted in a simple belief: We have one life and it’s far too precious to spend disconnected from what matters most. Away from work, she’s happiest in the sea, on a coastal path, in a sauna, or exploring her fascination with nature, marine life and the wonders of the world around us. https://www.direction.org.uk/ [https://www.direction.org.uk/] @directionscotland [https://www.instagram.com/directionscotland] @saundacultureuk [https://www.instagram.com/saunacultureuk] Find Anna: 📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/annaccampbell [https://www.instagram.com/annaccampbell] 📖 Good Girl Rebellion: Build the Business, Break the Rules, Be Limitless: https://www.goodgirlrebellion.com/ggr-book [https://www.goodgirlrebellion.com/ggr-book] If you enjoyed this episode, please follow the Good Girl Rebellion podcast and leave a review. Episode 009: Why Women Wait for Confidence: How to Start Before You Feel Ready Cover

009: Why Women Wait for Confidence: How to Start Before You Feel Ready

Do you spend more time thinking about doing things than actually doing them? Do you tell yourself you'll apply when you're more qualified, post when you're more confident, launch when you're more ready, speak up when you're more certain? Do you look at other women and wonder how they seem to put themselves out there so easily while you're still second-guessing yourself? If that feels familiar, this episode is for you. So many capable women are stuck waiting for confidence to arrive before they take action. But what if confidence isn't something you feel first? What if confidence is something you build because you took the action? In this episode of the Good Girl Rebellion podcast, Anna is joined by confidence coach Martyna Jablonska to explore why so many women struggle with self-doubt despite being more than capable, and how fear of judgement, perfectionism and good girl conditioning can keep us trapped in waiting mode. Together, they discuss why confidence is a skill rather than a personality trait, how to stop focusing on worst-case scenarios, and why the women we admire are rarely the women who felt ready. They're the women who acted before they did - and it's time for you to do that too. In this episode: * Why capable women still struggle with confidence * The impact of good girl conditioning and fear of judgment * Why confidence is a skill, not something you're born with * The difference between confidence, competence and perfectionism * Why women often wait until they feel 'ready' * How confidence is built through action rather than certainty * Training your brain to focus on possibility instead of worst-case scenarios * The importance of getting outside your comfort zone and collecting evidence * Why focusing on the process matters more than obsessing over the outcome * What becomes possible when women stop waiting and start acting If you've been waiting for confidence before taking the next step, this conversation may be the permission slip you've been looking for. It’s time. About Martyna Martyna Jablonska is a confidence coach and founder of Academy of Confidence.
