Beschreibung

A taco night on land is fine, but a taco night by tiki boat feels like a vacation you can squeeze into a Tuesday. We climb aboard the brand-new Chickee Tiki in Fort Myers Beach, point the bow toward Bonita Fish Company, and turn Tequila And Taco Tuesday into a quick, salty-air cruise with a dockside food mission.  On the ride, we get into the practical stuff people actually want to know before booking a boat tour in Southwest Florida: how many guests the boat fits comfortably, what BYOB really looks like, and why having water, soda, a cooler, and an onboard bathroom changes the whole experience. We also talk about summer weather, how captains watch radar and the sky, and how those fast afternoon showers affect sunset cruises and sightseeing trips around Fort Myers Beach.  Then we tie up, grab drinks, and dig into the star order: grouper tacos. You’ll hear the full breakdown of what’s in them, how the tortillas can be swapped for dietary needs, and why the flavor combo works so well. We wrap with a tequila toast, shout out the designated driver, and float the idea of making this taco run a regular tour. Subscribe, share this with a friend who loves tacos and boats, and leave a review telling us your go-to taco order. Episode FMBGN-HW-Balanced Nutrition-That Fits Real Life Cover

FMBGN-HW-Balanced Nutrition-That Fits Real Life

Your feed is full of nutrition rules, but your body still feels stuck. We’re joined by Francesca Scerbo, founder of Balanced Nutrition, to talk about what actually works when you want better energy, better digestion, and a plan you can live with not a short-term diet you’ll quit by next month. Francesca brings a food first, evidence-based perspective shaped by her background in clinical nutrition and exercise science, plus real life experience coaching clients through change without the all-or-nothing pressure. We dig into why “diet” is often a recipe for disaster and how a lifestyle-based approach adapts to your schedule, stress, and goals. Francesca explains why gut health matters so much right now, how inflammation shows up as bloating, gas, belching, and bathroom issues, and why supplements can’t outrun ultra-processed food. She also shares a simple experiment many people can try: removing gluten for two weeks, then reintroducing it to see what your body tells you. We also focus on women’s health and hormones, including why many women undernourish during perimenopause and menopause, how cortisol can fight fat loss when you overdo cardio, and why strength training and protein intake matter. Francesca offers concrete starting points like aiming for 100 grams of protein per day and building your morning around 30 grams, along with the bigger picture: hydration, sleep, stress reduction, and learning to read food labels. If you’re ready for a realistic nutrition plan that supports gut health, hormone balance, and sustainable weight loss, listen now then share this with a friend, subscribe, and leave a review so more neighbors can find it. What’s one small change you want to make this week? ST INS CARES-Summit Christian School-Small Classes & Big Heart In SWFL

A lot of schools talk about “student-centered learning,” but what does that actually look like when a child is tired, overwhelmed, or starting to disappear in a crowded classroom? We sit down with Megan from Summit Christian School in Southwest Florida to talk about the practical choices that shape a calmer, happier, more connected K to 8 experience, from smaller class sizes to a culture where kids are truly seen and known. Megan shares what she does at Summit, including admissions, onboarding, communications, and events, and why she’s passionate about changing what customer service looks like in education. We get into why the campus can feel like a hidden gem, how the school is working to raise local awareness, and what families notice most when they tour: joyful classrooms, teachers with autonomy, and a space that feels welcoming rather than clinical. We also explore what makes Summit stand out for families who need more support. Megan explains how the school serves students who are struggling, including those with IEPs or 504 plans, and why that matters in the private school landscape. You’ll hear how tours can happen any time of year, what the waitlist realities look like by grade, and why Summit is even exploring whether a high school could meet a real need in the area. If you care about Christian education, small class sizes, healthier screen-time boundaries, and real partnership between school and home, this conversation will give you plenty to think about. Subscribe, share this with a parent or educator, and leave a review so more people can find the stories making a difference in our communities. Episode FMBGN-BIZ-Erickson & Jensen Seafood-The Story of Local Pink Shrimp Cover

FMBGN-BIZ-Erickson & Jensen Seafood-The Story of Local Pink Shrimp

Pink shrimp has a nickname for a reason: “pink gold.” We’re on the bayside of Fort Myers Beach at Erickson Jensen Seafood with Anna, a fourth-generation shrimper who grew up on the docks and still feels that pull every day. She shares the real story behind Gulf pink shrimp, including what makes this species unique to local waters and why so many people swear it’s sweeter and better than what’s shipped in from far away. If you care about fresh seafood, local flavor, and buying with confidence, you’ll want to hear how she thinks about origin, taste, and quality. We also talk about what it takes to keep a working waterfront alive after a hurricane. Anna walks us through how their operation changed, why they opened a retail seafood market focused on education, and what “local” truly means when you’re choosing shrimp, rock shrimp, and other catches that come through the docks. Along the way, she breaks down sustainability in plain language, explains what demand looks like right now, and shares what she hopes to build next, including plans for an open-air bar and food trucks that keep the waterfront community vibe strong. Then we zoom out to life at sea: 30-day trips, fishing at night, grading shrimp by hand, brine tanks, and a boat hold that functions like a giant freezer, all done without chemicals. It’s equal parts craft, grit, and pride, plus a little dock-side joy thanks to a snack-loving pig named Cupcake. Listen, share it with a friend who loves great seafood, and leave a review if you want more local stories from Fort Myers Beach. Episode FMBGN-HW-REnew Yu - REYU 101 Cover

FMBGN-HW-REnew Yu - REYU 101

You can spend years chasing quick cosmetic fixes and still feel like you’re only treating symptoms. We wanted a clearer, more grounded map, so we sat down with Dr. Greet Baestaens for a plain language breakdown of REYU and why REnew Yu frames it as natural rejuvenation that starts from the inside out. We talk about the real mechanics behind the promise: restoring biofeedback loops in the nervous system, using the spine as the access point, and supporting the body’s ability to regulate and recover when chronic stress and inflammation take their toll. Dr. Baestaens explains how microcurrent therapy is used to support circulation and oxygen delivery, including the idea of “charging” red blood cells so blood flow improves and tissues get more oxygen and nutrition. That’s where listeners hear the connection to visible anti-aging outcomes like healthier skin texture, less puffiness, and that immediate “glow,” without leaning on toxins or paralysis based approaches. Then we widen the lens to the questions people actually ask in the mirror: who sees faster facial results, what kind of treatment series keeps changes natural, and what makes hair regrowth realistic. We get candid about candidacy, including why early thinning matters, why you need a follicle to work with, and why checking hormones and thyroid labs can be part of a responsible plan. We also touch pelvic floor and urinary support through the pudendal nerve, plus the safety essentials and contraindications like active cancer, pacemakers, epilepsy, and pregnancy. If you’re in Fort Myers Beach, Naples, Florida, or nearby and you’re researching natural anti-aging treatments, facial rejuvenation, microcurrent therapy, hair thinning help, or pelvic health support, this conversation gives you practical language to bring into a consultation. Episode ST INS CARES-Hope Healthcare-Beyond Hospice Cover

ST INS CARES-Hope Healthcare-Beyond Hospice

Hospice is often misunderstood as a place you go, but what we see on the ground is a network of care that follows families through some of the hardest seasons of life. We’re joined by Jennifer Thrash, Director of Philanthropy for Hope Healthcare, to unpack what they actually do across Southwest Florida, including Charlotte County, Lee County, Collier County, Hendry County, and Glades County. From hospice houses in Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, and Cape Coral to in-home visits, the goal stays the same: comfort, dignity, and real support for patients and families. We dig into Hope Healthcare’s bereavement services, which are available to anyone in the community, even if you’ve never been part of their programs. Jennifer shares how they provide more than 10,000 hours of grief support each year to around 1,500 participants, with services available for up to 18 months after a death and for many kinds of loss, including the death of a pet. We also talk about their uniquely intensive pediatric hospice and pediatric palliative care program serving babies through age 21, plus the funding reality behind “extras” that change daily life, like music therapy and art therapy, and a $150,000 grant supporting their partnership with Golisano Children’s Hospital. From there, we explore the PACE program (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), which supports low-income adults 55+ who are often homebound by coordinating care, coverage, and specialist access for hundreds of participants each year. We also highlight the Valor program honoring veterans and first responders, Camp Braveheart for children experiencing grief, and the volunteer engine behind it all, including pet therapy and bedside companionship. If this conversation moves you, subscribe for more community stories, share it with someone who cares about nonprofit impact, and leave a review so more listeners can find these resources.
