In this third episode Edwige Dro talks with  Axelle Jah Njiké , pagan feminist and author of Journal intime d'une féministe (noire) published by Editions du diable Vauvert in 2022. Edwige and Axelle discuss transmission and issues relating to intimacy, feminism and identity.    Axella child. Born in Cameroon and brought to France as a child, she was named by Le Monde as one of the n e Jah Njiké is the author of Journal intime d'une féministe (noire), published by Au Diable Vauvert in 2022, in which she recounts a life experience that is unusual in the French literary landscape: that of an Afropean girl, woman, citizen turned mother, who suffered sexual and educational violence as ew faces of feminism. Axelle is also a podcaster, documentary filmmaker and playwright. Defining herself as a Pagan feminist, her work explores transmission and questions linked to intimacy, feminism and identity. For her artistic and literary creations and her contribution to the promotion of the arts and literature in France and around the world, she was named Chevaleresse de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2022.

Leaving No One Behind - African Women In The Digital Space

In this third episode taped on Africa Women's Day 2024 Edwige Dro was joined by Dr Wunpini Fatimata Mohammed, assistant professor at Cornell University and a feminist activist-scholar to discuss African Women in the Digital Space. Dr Wunpini who was born and raised in Tamale Ghana is co-editor of the book “African Women in Digital Spaces: Redefining Social Movements on the Continent and in the Diaspora” (2023). Her research which focuses on feminisms, social movements, decolonization and media have appeared in various scholarly journals. She has worked as a journalist in Ghana for several years and some of her work has appeared in Al Jazeera, The Washington Post and The Guardian.

In this second conversation in the “ Leaving No One Behind” series, Edwige Dro sits down with Leonora Miano novelist, playwright and essayist to discuss intersectionality. Edwige and Leonora talk about " L'autre langue des femmes" (The Other Language of Women), Leonora Miano's essay published in 2021 by Grasset .   Born in Douala (Cameroon) in 1973, Léonora Miano is a leading figure in French-language literature. A novelist, playwright and essayist, she is the author of around twenty books. Her work explores the sub-Saharan and Afro-descendant experiences, whether singular and universal. Léonora Miano was awarded the Prix Goncourt des lycéens in 2006 for Contours du jour qui vient (Plon), the Prix Seligmann against racisme in 2012 for Écrits pour la parole (L'Arche), the Prix Fémina and the Grand Prix du roman métis in 2013 for La saison de l'ombre (Grasset). In 2020, the Université de Lorraine, in collaboration with the University of the Grande Région , which brings together 6 European universities, is creating the Prix Frontières - Léonora Miano; prize in tribute to her writings and commitments. In 2024, she received the Words for Change Prize at the Blue Metropolis Festival in Montreal. Léonora Miano helms the Quilombola collection at Seagull Books, an independent publisher based in India, and is the founder of The Quilombo Publishing house in Lomé, where she lives. A performance artist, Léonora Miano combines music and literature in her plays.

In this first conversation, Tolu Agbelusi and Edwige Dro discuss Tolu's book of poetry: Locating Strongwoman. The book reflects on “the embodiment of the fact that strength can and most often does exist in ordinary living, away from a podium, or the fabricated perfection that is sold to us as womanhood. The poems speak to unperformed living, the joy and the searching, the falling and the failing, the silence as language, the learning and the unlearning of our conditioning, and the triumph of inhabiting everything that we are without apology as the ultimate.”
