On this edition of Reset and Rise to the Unbreakable With Amanda Moore, we welcome Kimberly McBee to the show! Here's her bio in her own words : Hi, my name is Kimberly McBee, this is my story. As a child I was severely abused physically and mentally by my father. The mental abuse went on my entire life until I removed him from my life in November. The physical abuse ended at 15. My dad is a true textbook psychopath. In 9th grade my Algebra teacher told my mom I should see a therapist. I was later diagnosed with PTSD. At 19 I started drinking to party. It quickly turned in to full blown alcoholism. I drank to numb the past. I didn't want to feel anything. I slowed down the drinking in my mid 20's. That was until my ex husband knocked me out fracturing my cheek bones. When I woke up on the floor he was standing over me. He held me hostage in our house for 3 days. When he finally went to work I ran never looking back. I started drinking much heavier than before. I was a "functioning" alcoholic 16 years. I went to detox 8 or 9 times. In 2018 I did stop for 18 months until I was abused again. In June of last year I went to detox. I found out that my job had fired me for going. I drank as soon as I got out. I had a job I loved for 6 years gone. My family life was falling apart, I isolated and drank until I couldn't anymore. The doctors told my husband he would be burying me in 6 months. I went to my husband and daughter in November of last year. I told them I had to go detox and be taken to a 30 day program. I told them either I could miss one Thanksgiving if I go or all of them if I don't go. For my 30 day program I went to a facility called Hammocks on the Edisto. It was time to face my demons. Hammocks completely changed my life. I went in knowing I would do whatever it took. The staff there is incredible. The therapist want you to really trust them and dive deep. So I did. I spent the time to focus on and fix my inner child. I had never faced my past, only ran from it. All while being cared for, motivated, and really listened to by therapists, counselors and the 14 other women in the house for treatment. Those women are now my family for life. We all speak to each other every day. Coming out of the Hammocks I was scared to leave my safe bubble. They gave me the tools to stay sober and thrive in my new life. I also found my faith in God again while I was there. You see, my father was a deacon. It turned me away from church. God has worked miracles in my life since. I no longer struggle with numbing myself from the past. I left the past and haven't looked back. I occasionally suffer with triggers from my PTSD but it no longer controls me. I wake up each day smiling, thankful, and blessed. I will be 6 months sober on 5/17/26!! I graduated from my IOP. I have been invited to be a key note speaker at a women's convention later this year. I gave my testimony in church and my husband posted it. I've received hundreds of messages. People who are struggling or just want to support me. Episode Episode 49 : Former US Marine Bryan Roof! Cover

Episode 49 : Former US Marine Bryan Roof!

On this edition of Reset and Rise To The Unbreakable With Amanda Moore, we welcome the Host of "Coffee Talk With Bryan and Marie", former US Marine Bryan Roof to the show! Here's his bio in his own words : Born and raised in Lancaster, California, I graduated high school in May 1999. Shortly after, in February 2000, I made the pivotal decision to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. I served as a 3051 Supply Marine and deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in January 2003 as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, with my unit participating in the initial ground offensive. My time in service was not without personal hardship, including receiving a Red Cross message informing me of my grandmother's passing. Upon my honorable discharge in February 2004, I immediately transitioned into a demanding role within the aerospace industry, joining Northrop Grumman in Palmdale, California. That same year became a period of intense personal ambition and upheaval: I got married, became a father, embarked on a college degree, coached high school football, and even played semi-professional football. In hindsight, it's evident I placed an unsustainable burden upon myself during a critical post-military adjustment phase. Predictably, this frantic pace led to a rapid decline: my marriage faltered, ultimately ending in divorce. This period initiated a profound personal tailspin, forcing me to confront significant mental health challenges, including PTSD, anxiety, and an overwhelming sense of failure. My coping mechanisms at the time were destructive, characterized by excessive partying and drinking, which eventually led me to hit rock bottom. Amidst these struggles, I met my current wife, a truly remarkable woman who was raising three young boys, one of whom is non-verbal and autistic. Our connection was immediate and profound, leading to a quick marriage and the subsequent birth of our shared son, bringing our blended family to six children – five boys and one girl. It was after marrying her that I truly began to confront my mental health, recognizing the immense burden of unaddressed trauma I had carried for years. While the realization came swiftly, actively working through it became a multi-year journey of healing. My path took an unexpected turn in July 2018 when, after finally achieving full transparency about my struggles, the Veterans Administration deemed me "Unemployable." This designation was profoundly challenging, particularly as I had earned a business degree, achieved multiple promotions, and was thriving in my preferred role as a Project Manager, having finally attained substantial financial stability. To experience such a dramatic drop from a six-figure income to a quarter of that was devastating. This forced me to innovate and explore new avenues. I initially pursued various small business ventures, but my lifelong passion for talk radio sparked a new idea: to launch my own podcast. The podcast began simply: armed with a gaming microphone and my phone, I started recording personal reflections on what I considered my "interesting life." The process proved incredibly cathartic, prompting me to expand its scope. I soon began inviting fellow veterans to share their unique stories of service and the often-complex transition back to civilian life. This evolution led to "Heal Out Loud," a platform dedicated to openly discussing the good, the bad, and the ugly realities faced by military personnel and first responders. Last year, we launched a vital segment called "Coffee Talk," designed to delve deeper into issues frequently emerging from our interviews. This initiative connected me with Marie, whose courageous journey through addiction and sexual trauma resonated deeply. Her presence as co-host has been instrumental in creating a more inclusive space, particularly for female service members, encouraging them to share their experiences. Together, we champion the message that it’s okay not to be okay, offering a platform to "heal out loud" and normalize conversations around personal struggles. Our aim is to foster a community where we learn from our pasts, not allowing them to define us, but rather to shape us into stronger, more compassionate individuals. I am now in my fourth season, three and a half years into this fulfilling journey, and I eagerly anticipate sharing more of this mission with your audience. Episode 47 : Thomas Woo

On the next edition of Reset and Rise to the Unbreakable With Amanda Moore, we welcome Thomas Woo to the show! Here's his bio in his own words : Career  Walmart to contracting railroad to working for one of the big four railroads. Started my own merch company Appalachian syndicate. Life  Grew up in the south, moved to wv when my parents got divorced. While working with Walmart I met my wife who was also working there. We have 6 kids, 4 boys and two girls. Just celebrated our 10 year anniversary. Setbacks My one and only true setback would be devotion to Christ. I grew up going to church, raised Catholic, even went to catholic school from 6th grade to graduation. I’ve always believed in God and practiced religion, I just mostly was going through the motions. I’ve celebrated sin and wasn’t a good Christian the least bit. But in the past couple of years(when I launched Appalachian syndicate) I have found a calling to understand and study the Bible. I’ve become closer to Christ and see myself speaking to him more and more through out the day as if I was speaking to my literal father instead of just a higher being.  Visit Diligent Defense Company and use Code: appsyn15 for 15% off their website! diligentdefense.com Also visit Athena Target Systems and use Code: appsyn10 for 10% off their website! athenatargets.com Follow Amanda on Instagram : @BackupBowler83 Follow the show on Instagram and Tik Tok : @ResetandRisePodcast⁩ Send us an email with your questions and comments : resetandrisepodcast@gmail.com Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/reset-and-rise-to-the-unbreakable--6690676/support [https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/reset-and-rise-to-the-unbreakable--6690676/support?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rss].

Episode 46 : Dr. Toby Brooks!

On this edition of Reset and Rise To The Unbreakable With Amanda Moore we welcome Dr. Toby Brooks to the show! Here's his bio : Dr. Toby Brooks is a professor, performance scientist, speaker, and host of the Becoming UnDone podcast whose work lives at the intersection of resilience, identity, purpose, and personal growth. Over the course of his career, he has served as a collegiate educator, researcher, athletic trainer, strength coach, leadership developer, and academic administrator, helping high achievers navigate pressure, reinvention, burnout, and life’s unexpected setbacks. But the heart of Toby’s story isn’t professional success—it’s learning how to rebuild after life falls apart. Growing up in rural Southern Illinois, Toby’s identity was deeply tied to athletics, achievement, and performance. When his basketball career unexpectedly ended at 18, he found himself facing a devastating identity crisis that left him questioning his worth and direction. What felt like “just a game” on the outside became the unraveling of everything he thought defined him. That season of loss eventually spiraled into deeper struggles with fear, anxiety, shame, depression, and hopelessness. After the collapse of long-held dreams, relationships, and certainty about the future, Toby hit a personal rock bottom that forced him to confront the hardest questions of his life: Who am I without the things I’ve built my identity around? And how do you keep going when you can’t see the path ahead? Rather than allowing fear to define him, Toby began the long process of rebuilding from brokenness. Through faith, resilience, education, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to growth, he transformed those experiences into a message that now resonates with audiences around the world. His work challenges people to stop hiding behind performance and perfection and instead embrace vulnerability, courage, and purpose-driven growth. Today, Toby speaks openly about overcoming fear, navigating adversity, and learning that courage is not the absence of fear—it’s the willingness to move forward anyway. A first generation college student, he currently holds 5 academic degrees including a PhD from the University of Arizona, an MBA from LSU Shreveport, and is working on a 6th, a masters degree in applied physiology from the University of Florida. Whether discussing leadership, mental health, identity loss, burnout, reinvention, or personal growth, his message is grounded in authenticity and lived experience rather than theory alone. At his core, Toby believes that some of life’s greatest transformations are born from our hardest moments—and that setbacks, while painful, often become the very thing that shapes us into who we were meant to become. His coaching app is available at ScienceoftheComeback.com and he also works 1:1 with individuals who are seeking to rebuild after life has failed to go according to plan.
