It’s been about a month since I posted an update on our campaign finances. I had one all planned out and ready to record. And then Colorado House Minority Leader Jarvis Caldwell said something stupid that kinda set me off. So I made it a party of my campaign update. If you, like me, think the J6 terrorists are traitors. You’ll want to watch this one. Vic Meyers for Democracy [https://vicmeyersfordemocracy.com/] This is a public episode. Episode Resistance Education 7.2.26 Cover

Resistance Education 7.2.26

One of the things I believe elected officials should do is educate voters, not just repeat consultant-tested talking points. A Facebook comment claiming that only “illegals” lost Medicaid benefits gave me an opportunity to explain something many Americans don’t know: millions of retirees rely on Medicaid to help pay their Medicare Part B premiums. When that assistance disappears, the consequences are very real. This piece isn’t about scoring political points. It’s about making sure we’re arguing from the same set of facts. As always, I welcome thoughtful disagreement. Vic Meyers for Democracy [https://vicmeyersfordemocracy.com/] This is a public episode. BMac shared this post by Christopher Armitage [https://open.substack.com/pub/cmarmitage/p/a-new-era-of-state-legislative-opposition?r=1s8o07&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web] and I’m very grateful that he did. It’s about four excellent legislative proposals that could make states stronger. Stronger states make for a stronger republic. I can’t promise to propose all four of them in my first term but I’m definitely going to propose the one I talk about in this video. First I have to get elected….. Resistor Vic Pod 53

You may have noticed my pod posting schedule has been a little erratic of late. This is from a combination of me finding the time to post episodes and Mike trying to get as many candidates as possible in before the June 30 Colorado primary. In this episode, Mike interviews Amanda Gonzalez [https://www.amandaforcolorado.com/], Democratic primary candidate for Colorado Secretary of State. I typically just let Mike interview and then post it. I haven’t offered much commentary about the interview. In this case, I’m going to explicitly say that I think Amanda Gonzalez should easily be the clear choice for Colorado Secretary of State. This isn’t a judgment about her opponent. It’s a recognition that county clerks and Secretaries of State are the most important elected offices in 2026 and 2028. I’ve corresponded with the county clerk’s office that Amanda currently runs. It’s incredibly efficient and professional. The current Sec State also runs a very good operation. I think Amanda can improve it and continue to make it better. Now is not the time to place a former legislator in such an important position. This is a public episode. Episode Resistance Heir 6.26.26 Cover

Resistance Heir 6.26.26

Yesterday I posted a video on my other socials about the impending arrival of my new grandson. I couldn’t poste it here because if there’s a way to post on Substack from my phone, I haven’t figured it out. My son and his wife elected for a birthing center 135 miles from here. The biggest factor in this selection was affordability. And it wasn’t affordable. Her water broke at 3am. They told her to go to a hotel and wait it out until she was closer. I was pretty upset yesterday as I listened from the hallway to my daughter-in-law going through labor in a hotel room. This is the follow-up video to let everybody know how things panned out.
