Soul Medicine with Dr. Laura C. Brenes Episode 1: When Your Body Speaks: The Birth of Soul Medicine There was a time in my life when I didn’t realize I had been living in survival mode for decades—pushing through, holding everything together, and ignoring the quiet signals my body was trying to send. Until I couldn’t anymore. In this very first episode of Soul Medicine, I share the deeply personal story behind the birth of this podcast and the journey that changed everything for me. What began as physical symptoms and chronic overwhelm slowly unraveled into a deeper understanding that healing is not just physical—it is emotional, psychological, spiritual, and deeply connected to the nervous system. After years of chronic stress, over-functioning, and ignoring my body’s signals, I developed not one, but two debilitating autoimmune diseases that ultimately changed the course of my life and forced me to slow down in ways I never imagined. This episode explores: * survival mode and nervous system dysregulation * chronic stress, burnout, and identity loss * navigating life with autoimmune illness * the guilt of choosing yourself and your health * learning to listen when the body begins to speak * and the realization that healing happens in layers This is the beginning of a conversation and a space that I wish I had when I began walking this journey myself. And this is just the beginning. In future episodes, we’ll explore nervous system regulation, subconscious patterns, emotional healing, spirituality, neuroplasticity, identity transformation, and what it truly means to return home to yourself. This is your invitation to return home to yourself. I’ll meet you there. — Dr. Laura Brenes Soul Medicine ✨ A Gentle Reminder Be gentle with yourself. You are already whole. You are already worthy.
