Beschreibung

I am self-admittedly someone who, generally speaking, doesn't usually LOVE navigating huge periods of transition in life where my next chapter isn't perfectly laid out for me. But, I'm pregnant with my first child AND I'm reinventing my business at the exact same time. Nothing about my next chapter is perfectly laid out...and that's meant I've had to do a lot of work around how I navigate the unknown. In this episode, hear my personal reflections on: * The 7 tools I've used to help me build tolerance around the discomfort of the unknown * The number one thing that will bring clarity, certainty & confidence (and it's NOT more journaling) * How I'm dealing with needing to let go of a lotttt of control at this stage in my transition / transformation journey * The big perspective shift that helps ground me and keep me hopeful when I'm starting to feel anxious Enjoy, share and please reach out if this episode resonated <3

Episode 66. What it actually takes to create big change Cover

66. What it actually takes to create big change

Yesterday, I was talking with a former client turned friend who is also rebuilding his business so that he can finally leave his 9-5. As we talked, I realized something: I've become someone who's pretty good at changing.   I've reinvented my career majorly from teacher to head of sales for a startup to running my own personal brand as a coach.    I've gone from a traditional nonprofit job in Chicago to spending nearly eight years working remotely around the world to living in the mountains in Malibu.   I've rebuilt my business offers more than once, evolving from career coach to intuitive business coach to now executive coach for women navigating major professional transitions.   I've gone from believing I'd be the single, traveling aunt forever to finding my husband.    I've gone from never wanting kids because of my own childhood to becoming a mama and loving motherhood far more than I ever expected.   I don't know exactly what this next chapter of my business will become.  But I do know how to build something new. I've done it enough times now that I trust my process even when I can't yet see the outcome.  And I thought that might be helpful for you too.  In this episode, I share:   * the bigggggg thing we need to get honest about in terms of why the previous change didn't stick (or why we didn't get the result we wanted)   * how we can show up differently so that we can actually experience something different (like, actually find your person or build an offer that pops or lose the 20 lbs or find a job you enjoy waking up for) * the simple framework for making a big change whether in career, business, health or your love life that I've used in every part of my life and that I'm using now to rebuild my business after becoming a mama   ➡️ Navigating a big professional change yourself that you'd like me to coach you on through the podcast?   Email support@emilyelizamoyer.com with subject line "Dear Emily" and a few sentences about the professional changes & challenges you're navigating (I'll always keep it anonymous).    ➡️ Want to work through your professional crossroads or career transition privately with me?   Email support@emilyelizamoyer.com with subject line "Crossroads" and I'll share more details about my Crossroads Sessions--potent one-off coaching sessions that will help you untangle the mess in your head and get clear on where you're going next in your career or business in less than 90 minutes.

Episode 65. When finding purpose isn't enough Cover

65. When finding purpose isn't enough

For most of my life, I believed the key to a happy career was finding my purpose. That belief sent me on 12-year journey, from teaching in low-income Houston, to booking a one-way ticket to Bangkok, to working for a travel startup I absolutely loved, to building my coaching business helping hundreds of people discover their purpose and create more meaningful work (and later, scaling their impact through business). For a long time, it worked. Until one day last year, my husband looked at me on our morning walk and said, "You don't seem happy in your business anymore." In that moment, I realized I'd become the very person I'd spent my life trying not to become: someone bringing my work misery home. In this episode, I'm sharing how my understanding of purpose has completely changed over the past year and why I no longer believe purpose is just about finding meaningful work. In this episode, I'm sharing: * how I discovered my own purpose 12 years ago for the first time and what I've learned since then * why I think knowing your purpose is still so incredibly important for an overall satisfying life * the role purpose plays in building a career (and business) that actually fulfills you * what many of us are missing in our search for our 'true purpose' in life * how i define purpose now and the 'purpose framework' i'm using to create a meaningful life I wouldn't trade with anyone   ➡️ Navigating a big professional change yourself that you'd like me to coach you on (anonymously!) through the podcast?   Email support@emilyelizamoyer.com with subject line "Dear Emily" and a few sentences about the professional changes & challenges you're navigating (I'll always keep it anonymous).    ➡️ Want to work through your professional crossroads or career transition privately with me?   Email support@emilyelizamoyer.com with subject line "Crossroads" and I'll share more details about my Crossroads Sessions--potent one-off coaching sessions that will help you untangle the mess in your head and get clear on where you're going next in your career or business in less than 90 minutes.

Episode 64. *dear emily*...navigating unexpected life change (a new series!) Cover

64. *dear emily*...navigating unexpected life change (a new series!)

Welcome to the very first Dear Emily episode. This is a new series where you write in about the career transitions, professional crossroads & unexpected changes you're navigating and I coach you through them in a *dear abby* style episode on the podcast (always anonymously). Earlier this week, I got an email from someone who in the last year alone has: 1) shut down a very successful business  2) gave birth to her second baby 3) left an unstable marriage 4) started an MBA for entrepreneurs 5) all while finding clarity on her purpose in this new stage of life. Needless to say, she's going through some major changes. As she put it, it feels scary financially, tiring emotionally and physically, and she doesn't feel like she has enough time in the day. She wanted to know how I (and other women) have moved through the unexpected changes in life. As I read this email I realized something--so much of what makes life transitions difficult is the isolation. What makes these transitions easier? Knowing that others have gone through it too. In this episode, you'll hear more about what she's experiencing and then, some reframes, tools and perspective shifts that I've found helpful on my own journey (and that I've seen be helpful for clients as well). I shared: * how my definition of 'finding purpose' has changed and what I think it means now  * the hidden cost of trying to stay strong and what we actually need to feel strong during life's upheavals * one simple, but wildly effective (and free) tool I use that helps me actually become the person who can create the big changes I want for myself * a reframe for navigating the blank canvas after you've made a big change that might bring you the sense of peace and relief you've been looking for ➡️ Navigating big life change yourself that you'd like me to coach you on through the podcast like this one? Email support@emilyelizamoyer.com with subject line "Dear Emily" and a few sentences about the life changes you're navigating (I'll always keep it anonymous).    ➡️ Want to work through your crossroads privately with me? Email support@emilyelizamoyer.com with the subject line 'Crossroads' and I'll share more details about my Crossroads Sessions--potent one-off coaching sessions that will help you untangle the mess in your head and get clear on where you're going next in less than 90 minutes.

Episode 63. I pressed publish...and then, CRINGE Cover

63. I pressed publish...and then, CRINGE

Last week, I published a podcast episode...and then immediately wanted to delete it. In this episode, I'm sharing why we're actually the worst judges of our own work (especially when we're out of the habit of creating), why we can't rely on something feeling "good enough" before we press publish, and the simple tool that's helped me through every pivot, transition and reinvention in my life: guiding principles. I share what "guiding principles" are, the exact ones I use to show up every day as I'm rebuilding my business after baby (especially when things are clunky, awkward, cringey, etc.), why I'm already working and chose to hire a part-time nanny just five weeks postpartum and a little behind-the-scenes of my life as a mama-CEO that you'll never see on IG :) Finally, if you're in one of those seasons where you've outgrown your work (your business or job), but don't know where you want to go next, I'm offering something new: They're called Crossroads Sessions: potent, single-session coaching calls to help you quickly untangle the mess in your head, get clear on what you actually want and leave knowing your next right step. Email emily@emilyelizamoyer.com or shoot me a DM on IG (@emilyelizamoyer) with "crossroads" to learn more.
