Today’s conversation about Evan’s return to the podcast is truly profound. His story is powerful and inspiring, reminding us all that life can challenge us in unexpected ways. Throughout it all, what stood out most is what Evan emphasized: self-care remains the most important act we can do for ourselves. It’s about being willing to do whatever it takes—to listen, to heal, and to nurture our mind, body, and spirit. His journey highlights that even in moments of difficulty, taking care of ourselves isn’t just a luxury — it’s a vital part of moving forward and creating a meaningful, sustainable life. This episode is a reminder that our greatest strength comes from our commitment to ourselves, even when the road gets rough. Episode Sparks Pod - The Soulzy Project & More by The Grateful Artist Podcast Cover

Sparks Pod - The Soulzy Project & More by The Grateful Artist Podcast

Welcome to our weekly Sparks Podcast, where we explore the sparks that ignite our creativity, grow our ideas, and help us live more inspired lives. I’m Stephanie, artist and writer, and I’m here with my good friend Evan, a prolific author of five, soon-to-be six books for creators and a dedicated art gallery owner. Evan’s about to leap into his most profound chapter yet, and I can’t wait to see what sparks fly. This week, we dive into the topic of setting new goals and the power of sharing your ideas. Evan introduces the concept of “The Soulzy Project, a fun way to approach your goals with openness. We talk about two different strategies: announcing your goals loudly for accountability or keeping them quiet to build momentum before sharing. I share that I do both, sometimes I keep things quiet, other times I share when I have a strong feeling they’ll come true. It’s about trusting your instinct. We also explore the idea that inspiration can come from the most unexpected places. A song snippet, a chance conversation, or even just quiet observation can spark a breakthrough. Sometimes, the universe nudges us toward our next big idea when we least expect it, and staying open is key. I share a story about how an odd moment of inspiration flipped my perspective, reminding us that silence often holds the loudest ideas. Next, Evan brings up a powerful scene from Schitt’s Creek - about a character explaining his pansexuality through a wine metaphor. It’s a perfect example of how storytelling and nuance can help us see the world differently. Simple moments like these can challenge our assumptions and open us to new ways of understanding. We’re always learning, always evolving. Finally, we talk about how stories control us, whether they’re helping us or holding us back. Rebecca Solnit reminds us that some stories sink ships, and many of us go down with those ships because we believe them to be true. The key is to stop being your story, to step out of it, and to take the life raft instead. Our journey is about finding the courage to break free and create something new. Stay tuned for more sparks and inspiration, because your best ideas are waiting, just beneath the surface. The Grateful Artist Podcast- “Playing with Reckless Abandon”

Welcome to “The Grateful ArtistPodcast”! Today we’re diving into a powerful theme - “Playing with Reckless Abandon”. Evan Griffith and I are exploring how embracing spontaneity, trusting your inner child, and trusting the process can unlock your true creative potential. Evan will be sharing excerpts from my book, “The Grateful Artist”, especially from the Child at Play chapter, stories about how play and authenticity fuel creativity and growth. We’ll discuss how the most beautiful art comes from those unafraid to stand out, create differently, and trust their own voice, regardless of societal expectations or perfection. We’ll also reflect on those pivotal moments in life when we’ve lost our way, like letting go of work, fears, or old rules and how surrendering to the space of play and trust can help us rediscover our real selves. It’s about making a glorious mess, brave enough to be different, and trusting that the universe is always supporting us when we’re willing to let go. So, stay tuned, and remember, your magic is in that space of reckless abandon. Let’s get into it! Sparks Pod - Cowboy Mouth, The Mandalorian & Willingness

Welcome to The Sparks Pod brought to you by The Grateful Artist Podcast”, where every week, we explore what sparks creativity, growth, and authentic living. I’m Stephanie Paige, an artist and writer, and I’m joined by my fantastic cohost, Evan Griffith—an extraordinary writer for creatives Today, we’re diving into a thought-provoking theme: “Willingness”. We’ll share stories and insights that reveal how embracing willingness—over rigid intentions or plans—can truly transform your work and life. As Evan will tell us, improvising can be like drumming miss a beat, and you create something new, it’s about trusting the process and being open to what arises. We’ll kick things off with a touching story about Kate, a 90-year-old friend of Evan’s, and the greatest influence in her life. I’ll riff on the difference between intentions and willingness, sharing some quotes that help clarify this idea. Then, we’ll explore Patti Smith’s story from “Just Kids” about writing “Cowboy Mouth”, and how improvisation in art and in life can be a powerful tool. Later, we’ll touch on “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, because even in wild stories, there’s a lesson about trust, patience, and openness. We’ll close with Hugh Prather’s wisdom about happiness being a present attitude, not a future goal. So, stay with us, because when we open ourselves to willingness, magic happens. Let’s get into it!
