Episode Breakthrough Conversation with Joanna Lohman Cover

Beschreibung

In this ‘breakthrough’ conversation, “Ange” chats it up with Joanna Lohman, an author, leadership expert and performance strategist who helps individuals and teams lead authentically, while performing at high levels. Angela and Joanna were teammates on the US Women’s National Team. Joanna’s soccer accolades are seemingly too many to name; the award, however, that we want to shout out on this podcast is Joanna’s honor of being a 4x Academic All-American while at Penn State University.  (Thanks, Joanna for underlining the ‘student’ in student athlete!) Listen as Joanna describes her breakthrough moment of attending the 1999 White House celebration after the Women’s World Cup which solidified her commitment to being a professional athlete. This was a true, ‘if you can see it, you can be it’ moment. We ask our TPB listeners to consider 2 things in tandem with this episode: 1) What people/places/situations are you seeing every day that are presented to remind you of your purpose and greatness? 2) How are you positioning yourself to be seen and serve as a guide post for others’ breakthrough moments? Pivots are not detours; they are the breakthroughs needed to expand the path forward. Consume this podcast wherever you get yours, and connect with Angela across social channels. Share your breakthrough moments that may give someone else the courage to pivot. Thank you for being here.

Episode Breakthrough Conversation with Moochie Norris Cover

Breakthrough Conversation with Moochie Norris

In this ‘breakthrough’ conversation, Angela spends time with NBA veteran, Moochie Norris who was the 33rd pick in the legendary 1996 NBA Draft. (Check out the ’96 draft class and you will see that Moochie was in great company!) Moochie played for several NBA teams including the Vancouver Grizzlies, Seattle SuperSonics, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Hornets, and New York Knicks (Go NBA Champs!). Moochie is known by his coaches and former teammates as a dedicated, versatile player who absolutely loves the game. This conversation unfolds like a vibrant tapestry, as we learn how basketball helped Moochie grieve the passing of his beloved mother, and how a high school coach and teacher cared enough for Moochie to help him see new possibilities for his life which propelled him to college, and subsequently the NBA. Moochie admittedly operates through the lens of a shorter-term vision, but he has mastered the art of the pivot. When he is faced with change, Moochie makes informed, efficient decisions. He does not get stuck. He keeps moving. If your tendency is more towards making changes slowly, consider taking a play from Moochie. Even after having a professional basketball career that many dream of, Moochie most enjoys his favorite job, Dad! In this season, this father of 4 enjoys coaching young student athletes and picking up his kiddos in the carpool lane.  Pivots are not detours; they are the breakthroughs needed to expand the path forward. Episode Breakthrough Conversation with Adam Hall Cover

Breakthrough Conversation with Adam Hall

In this ‘breakthrough’ conversation, Angela posts up in the virtual studio with a fellow University of Virginia “Wahoo,” Adam Hall. Adam was a high school basketball phenom out of Texas who was a standout player at UVA known for his explosive athleticism and high-flying dunks. If there was ever a player with a 99.99999% chance of going in the first round of the NBA draft, it was Adam, until freak injury completely altered his journey. On this podcast, Angela talks about pivots...but what if the pivot feels more like the floor falling out from under you? You don’t know why it happened. You did nothing to cause it. Admittedly, it’s a part of the human experience. We may not always know why things happen, but we can all take a play from Adam. When the unimaginable happens, create a new, prosperous reality. Adam wrote a new story for himself as a fan-inspiring player for professional teams in Australia, Belgium, and Germany. His intendedpath was far better than what he previously pictured for himself. Sometimes your breakthrough is on the other side of your breakdown. Keep shining, Adam!Pivots are not detours; they are the breakthroughs needed to expand the path forward. Breakthrough Conversation with Diana Cutaia

In this ‘breakthrough’ conversation, Angela talks with Diana Cutaia, President & Founder of Coaching Peace, an organization she launched in 2012 to help schools, teams, companies, and national organizations build positive, safe cultures rooted in empathy, understanding, and leadership. Her work sits at the intersection of sport, education, equity, and human development. Angela is also the author of Protect Your Confidence. The power of confidence cannot be underestimated. Without confidence, pivots will pass you by. Without confidence, your breakthrough moments will not manifest. What would your life look like if confidence was your norm? What would your workplace culture look like if self-confidence, and confidence in your teammates, were unshakeable truths? Starting from this moment, what amazing things can happen in your life and your business, simply by choosing to trust yourself, and trust that your life is meant to work out for your good? Time for some vitamin ‘C,’ for confidence.  Pivots are not detours; they are the breakthroughs needed to expand the path forward.
