Festus, realizing that the charges against Paul are primarily about Jewish religious disputes, offers him the opportunity to go to Jerusalem and be judged there. The leaders in Jerusalem celebrate with Paul as he shares the news of so many Gentiles coming to Christ. The early church is not trying to end Judaism. They see following Jesus as the fulfillment of the Hebrew Scriptures. The rumors persist and an angry mob seize Paul. Some are trying to kill him so the Roman authorities come in to stop the rioting.
