Mitä tapahtuu kun epäillyn henkirikoksen takana on virkatehtävää suorittanut poliisi? Tässä jaksossa kerron kahdesta ihmisen kuolemaan johtaneesta tilanteesta Yhdysvalloista, jossa poliisit ovat joutuneet oikeuden eteen. Molemmissa tapauksissa puntaroitiin sitä, oliko poliisin voimankäyttö ollut tarpeellista kun uhrit olivat olleet aseettomia eivätkä käyttäytyneet väkivaltaisesti. 218: Valkoisen maatilan murhat

Vuonna 1985 Englannin Essexissä tapahtui perhesurma, joka herättää kysymyksiä vielä tänäkin päivänä. Tapaus näytti heti selvältä murha-itsemurhalta ja kaikki poliisin havainnoimat todisteetkin viittasivat siihen. Uhrien sukulaiset alkoivat kuitenkin epäillä, että varakkaan perheen ainoa henkiinjäänyt poika olisi ollut teon takana. 217: James Byrd Jr.

James Byrd Jr. saattaa olla monelle tuttu nimi. Hän oli 49-vuotias amerikkalainen mies, joka kuoli vuonna 1998 järkyttävän henkirikoksen uhrina Jasperin kaupungissa Teksasissa. James liftasi tuona kohtalokkaana iltana kyydin sellaisilta ihmisiltä, jotka olivat haaveilleet toisen ihmisen satuttamisesta ja jopa murhasta. Tapaus aloitti yhteiskunnallisen keskustelun rasismista ja kirvoitti valtakunnallisen lakiuudistuksen viharikoksiin liittyen.
