episode Richard Weremiuk artwork

Richard Weremiuk

Kate is joined by guest host Faye Johnson for tonight’s podcast with Richard Weremiuk. Richard is the Race Director of Beyond Marathon, an event company offering unique races and challenges in the UK. We talk to him about how he started and the unusual format many of his races take; most recently Escape from Meriden. This race has become hugely popular, including by us dot watchers following runners run in every direction from the traditional centre of the UK; it’s like watching a spider web develop! We also discuss the other arm of Beyond Marathon; tracking and how the technology and popularity has grown and developed over the years. Thanks for tuning in! If you enjoyed this episode, please don’t forget to subscribe on your preferred platform and leave a quick rating or review; it really helps other runners find the show. We are fortunate to be supported by Core Body Temperature Sensors, who offer sensors to allow athletes to monitor their heat training and improve performance. Nick Hancock is currently testing the Core 2, and you can read his review of the Core 1 last year in our review section (just search Core). You can also watch this interview on our Youtube channel. episode Eric Keeler artwork

Eric Keeler

Robin and I chat to Eric from Rasselbock Running. We discover where the name Rasselbock comes from and learn about his event format, which is focused on his runners and the community he has built up. Most of Rasselbock events are timed, which makes them inclusive to everyone, whether they want to complete one loop or race against the clock to see how many loops they can get in the time. We discuss the community that he has built around this and the concept certainly seems to work, as he now puts on 36 events a year. Trail and Ultra Running Awards

As the 2025 trail, fell and ultra-running season comes to a close, our thoughts turn to the epic events of the year. From Lucy Gossage and Kim Collison’s wins at the Spine race back in January, Sarah Perry’s continued dominance at the Backyard events, to Arthur Hill setting a new record on the Winter Bob Graham Round....Dan Lawson setting a new SWCP FKT, Tom Evans winning UTMB and Hugh Tibbs breaking the 100 mile trail record…… Yet again, the year has been an exceptional one for British trail, fell and ultra running! So we at The Home Trails Podcast, RunUltra and Robin The Running Accountant, have brought to you another year of the Trail and Ultra Running Awards! How does the voting work? Please take a few minutes to fill out the voting survey below and let us know who you think deserves to be recognised for their contribution to trail, fell and ultra running this year. You might be thinking ‘what do I get out of this?’ Great question……YOU get to win a prize bundle of untold awesomeness, which will be announced in the near future! It will be WELL worth your time we promise!! Complete the voting form and your name will be added into the prize draw. All votes will be counted and the person/entity/product with the most votes wins. Voting ends at midnight on the 10th of January 2026 and the winner will be announced a few days later, along with the winners from all categories that you vote on. So get voting to be in with a chance to snag these mystery goodies! Again, thank you for taking the time to read this paragraph and for taking part! episode Sarah Rowell artwork

Sarah Rowell

We chat to Sarah Rowell, who was recently elected President of the World Mountain Running Association (I incorrectly said Mountain and Trail Running Association at the start, so apologies for my error). Sarah talks about her early marathon running career, breaking records and participating in the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 - incredibly the first Olympics women were allowed to participate in the marathon distance. We then go on to talk about the politics of global trail running and the future of the sport. We are very fortunate to be supported by Core Body Temperature Sensors, who offer sensors to allow athletes to monitor their heat training and improve performance. Nick Hancock is currently testing the Core 2, and you can read his review of the Core 1 here. [https://run-ultra.com/reviews/core-sensor/] 🎙️ Thanks for tuning in!
