Welcome to New Health Club podcast. This is where the conversation around the new age of mental wellness begins. I think, that psychedelics will play a big part in this and there is a lot of scientific research happening, plus an industry growing around the topic, as we speak. But what are LSD, magic mushrooms, psilocybin and MDMA or Ketamine exactly doing for our mental health and personal progress in the future? On the “New Health Club Podcast” I talk to real innovators, thought leaders and disrupters from the emerging new world of psychedelics and mental wellness. Hosted on Acast. Today’s episode is particularly special. I recorded this session in our hotel room studio during the Psychedelic Science Conference in Denver. The duo you’ll hear shortly is truly exceptional in their efforts to destigmatize psychedelics, a movement gaining significant momentum right now. My guests are Professor Rachel Yehuda and Governor Rick Perry. Professor Rachel Yehuda is the Director of the Parsons Research Center for Psychedelic Healing at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. She plays a pivotal role in pioneering psychedelic research related to veterans and PTSD. Governor Rick Perry is a prominent American politician and the former governor of Texas. He also served as the 14th U.S. Secretary of Energy from 2017 to 2019. Perry has argued that ibogaine could be an incredible treatment for addiction and PTSD in veterans and has dedicated himself to advancing the public understanding and acceptance of psychedelics. In this episode, we discuss the evolving landscape of psychedelics in the United States, exploring why a bipartisan approach could be a powerful solution for rescheduling psychedelics and expanding access to healing therapies nationwide.
