Stardust Memories [https://www.woodyallenpages.com/films/stardust-memories/] is the 9th film written and directed by Woody Allen, first released in 1980. Woody Allen plays Sandy Bates – a renowned director looking for a change. He is invited and attends a retrospective of his own films, where he is faced with fans and critics all wanting his time. During all this, he reflects on a past relationship that’s gone wrong but still haunts him, and tries to find happiness with a new partner. STARDUST MEMORIES sees Allen tackle fame and celebrity with jet black humour. But it was seen by more than a few that Allen was ungrateful and bitter. Worst of all - it wasn’t that funny. It was Allen’s first big backlash since he started - but does this film deserve it? Welcome to the Woody Allen Pages Podcast, by me, the creator of the Woody Allen Pages website. This week, episode 10, we look at 1980’s STARDUST MEMORIES. How it was conceived, how it was made, and how it was hated. Spoilers are everywhere so watch the film first, then come back. A Rainy Day In New York [https://www.woodyallenpages.com/films/rainy-day-new-york/] is the 48th film written and directed by Woody Allen, first released in 2019. TIMOTHÉE CHALAMET stars as Gatsby Welles, a college student who takes his girlfriend Ashleigh Enright, played by ELLE FANNING, to New York for a day trip. They hit the big city as it starts to rain, and the as the pair separate the weather is only the start of their troubles. After around a decade away, Allen returns to present day New York with the youngest leading cast he’s ever assembled. It’s a series of sketches with some fun scenes, and sees Allen do once again for New York what he spent the last decade and a half doing for Europe - make it look romantic and wonderful. It’s also his funniest film in years. Welcome to the Woody Allen Pages Podcast, by me, the creator of the Woody Allen Pages website. This week, episode 9, we look at 2019’s A RAINY DAY IN NEW YORK. We look at how the film was made and it’s eventual roll out around the world. Spoilers are everywhere so watch the film first, then come back. ANNIE HALL is the 6th film written and directed by Woody Allen, first released in 1977. Woody Allen stars as Alvy Singer. He has broken up with Annie, played by DIANE KEATON, and he’s looking back on his whole life to see if he can figure out how he got here. What do you say about ANNIE HALL? It’s been over analysed to death. Every frame has been considered. Every scene has been parodied. Every line has been printed on a t-shirt. But hey, lets talk about one of the greatest films ever made one more time. Welcome to the Woody Allen Pages Podcast, from me the creator of the Woody Allen Pages website. This week, episode eight, we look at 1977’s ANNIE HALL - where it started, how it was made and how it changed everything for Woody Allen. Of course spoilers are everywhere - so go watch the film first.
