On Language & Healing: Vibrasons Só Positivu/Positive Vibez Only (A Conversation w/Noemy Amado)

A WORD W/THE ETHKNOWLINGUIST On Language & Healing: Vibrasons Só Positivu/Positive Vibez Only (A Conversation w/Noemy Amado) Hosted by Amauri J.   In this episode, we bring on special guest, Noemy Amado. Noemy is a creative soul who holds a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from Columbia University and is a practicing Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Massachusetts.  She has worked with adults, couples, families, adolescents, and children in supporting them as they access and navigate healthcare systems to obtain both medical and mental health care. Amado takes a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to working with those experiencing distressing mental health symptoms associated with abuse, chronic illness, grief and loss, and economic, relational, and occupational psychosocial stressors.  Noemy is committed to supporting each individual with whom she has the pleasure to work. Simply stated, her approach is, “Let’s figure it out and make space for it together!” While conversing with Noemy, we explore the very, varied nuances of mental health, as it intersects with both cultural aspects and what I call, "healing language" a.k.a, positive vibrations. From the invisible ones that leave our persons by way of our voices, to the ones that echo back, transmitting frequencies that reverberate both externally and internally, we learn that telling and understanding our stories is no small feat. What (the) [Fill-in-the-Blank] is an EthKnowLinguist?

On this introductory episode of "A Word w/the EthKnowLinguist", hosted by me, Amauri J., we'll cover a bit more about the flow of the aforementioned Episodic Journey and what that means for our audience.  Basically, this is where I try my absolute best to live up to those things that I said I'd do in the trailer episode.  We define ethnolinguistics and provide context on its etymology (which means, the study of words, including their origins, changes, and occurrences like lexical borrowing).  We explore the basic flow of this podcast and talk about what you can expect each month as the show progresses.  After we cover the flow, I provide an overview of some of the episode topics for this season and share a bit more about me. Oh yeah... A's to the Qs, we'll also find a few answers to the question, "WTFill-in-the-Blank is an EthKnowLinguist?"
