About Playsongs Playtime

Welcome to Playsongs Playtime, a joyous five minutes of guided interactive play with your baby or toddler. Each episode introduces one short playrhyme and one short playsong, and guides you through playing with them - right now in the moment - or tucked away and played again and again later. Our aim is to bring playsongs and playrhymes to life for you and your little one - so you can enjoy the participatory action to the full. Babies and toddlers have chuckled and laughed through action play with their grown ups since play began - and they learn so much from it - language development, physical development, bonding, communication and interaction. But best of all, it’s fun - a few moments of precious, total engagement just with you. Basing each episode on the much-loved Playsongs books and audio, presenter and author, Sheena Roberts, is joined by Playsongs People musicians, Sandra Kerr, Leon Rosselson, Janet Russell, Kevin Graal, Steve Grocott, Nancy Kerr, James Fagan, and Debbie Sanders who sing and play the songs with us. You’ll find peekaboo games, knee-bouncers, tickle rhymes, joyous lifts, sound explorers, and soothers - each one tried, tested and voted great by baby gurgles and toddler giggles. 28. Fly high with a crow and land on a donkey

High rise hoists are a joy for a baby, sturdy enough to support their head, and for a toddler - as long as you still have the strength to lift them above your head! So get ready for some energetic exercise with Catch him Crow rhymed by Leon Rosselson and a cascade of falling apples, and our Donkey Riding call and response, shanty song with Janet Russell, singing the calls, and Sandra Kerr, singing the responses - her concertina accompanying both - it’s Playsongs Playtime.

27. Knock at the Door and Look who comes here!

Sound exploring can be a noisy business, but we’re starting it very very quietly for your very very tiny baby as we gently play our rhyme Knock at the Door. But then, we open the door, and in come a noisy band singing Look who comes here to introduce a dolly, tapping on baby’s high chair, a caterwauling kitten, and a kazoo-croaking frog chorus. 26. Rig a jig jig and away we go

A couple of Silly Billies give us a daft little game of tangled feet when Bill Anderson and Tom Sim get into a tussle, which slides baby off your knee and onto the floor. Meantime we meet our friends in a happy little leg-walker which lifts off into a glorious high-lifting knee-bouncer, or babe-in-arms dance with Rig a jig jig and away we go. 25. Upside down with the fishes and the ducks
