episode What Is Problematic Sexual Behavior Framework with Bill Herring artwork

What Is Problematic Sexual Behavior Framework with Bill Herring

Bill Herring is a clinical social worker as well as a certified sex addiction therapist (CSAT) in Atlanta Georgia where he has maintained a private psychotherapy practice for he past 35 years. Bill Herring is the creator of the Problematic Sexual Behavior Framework (known as the PSB Framework for short). This is a way to assess any form of sexual behavior for the presence of problematic aspects without even needing to focus on the type or frequency of that behavior. The PSB Framework uses just five simple questions to assess a person’s pattern of sexual behavior for commitment violations, values conflicts, diminished self-control, lack of responsibility to others and negative consequences. This approach helps to reduce resistance for people who know or suspect that they have a sexual problem but who are not ready to accept a label as a sex addict – and may not even need to, as Bill will discuss today. episode Understanding Betrayed Male Partners Who Are Fathers Too with Aaron Brewer artwork

Understanding Betrayed Male Partners Who Are Fathers Too with Aaron Brewer

This conversation explores the often-overlooked experience of betrayed males, especially fathers, and how men uniquely process intimate relationship betrayal. While infidelity is commonly studied and treated through a female-centered lens, emerging insights suggest that men may experience betrayal as a distinct form of trauma—impacting identity, trust, emotional regulation, and meaning-making. From a clinical perspective, the conversation highlights common therapeutic missteps, the importance of addressing bias, and practical treatment considerations for working effectively with betrayed men. We discuss how betrayal trauma can produce PTSD-like symptoms, including intrusive thoughts, hypervigilance, and intense emotional reactions such as anger, grief, and disgust. The episode also examines how socialization, masculinity, and cultural expectations shape men’s responses. Ultimately, this episode offers a more balanced and compassionate framework for understanding betrayal—equipping clinicians, couples, and families to better support men navigating one of the most painful relational experiences. Aaron Brewer, MA, LPCC-S, NCC, CSAT, CPTT, CMAT, CCTP-II, DARTT, has worked in mental healthcare for almost 10 years. He is a doctoral student in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands. He teaches graduate counseling courses at Grace College and works as a clinical counselor and supervisor in private practice in Ohio. Aaron specializes in compulsive sexual behaviors, intimate relationship betrayal, and developmental trauma, and is an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and Consultant-in-Training. episode Reclaiming Resilience and Rewiring Trust After Betrayal with Sara Stalker artwork

Reclaiming Resilience and Rewiring Trust After Betrayal with Sara Stalker

Betrayal is more than a break in a contract; it is a physiological and emotional earthquake that can leave you feeling fundamentally altered. However, resilience isn't about "bouncing back" to the person you were before; it is about the grounded, deliberate process of integrating that experience and moving forward with a new sense of self. In this session, we explore how to shift from the survival-based hyper-vigilance of betrayal trauma toward a state of embodied safety and clarity. We will discuss the practicalities of reclaiming resilience through somatic grounding—focusing on the nervous system rather than just the narrative. By moving away from clinical jargon and toward "real talk," we address the complexities of restoring trust, starting with the most important relationship of all: the one with your own intuition. Drawing on over 20 years in wellness and my own personal journey through the landscape of betrayal, I share how these experiences became the catalyst for a deeper, more resilient way of living. We’ll look at how to set boundaries that protect your peace and how to begin "rewiring" your heart for love and security, proving that you are never as broken as the betrayal made you feel. episode Want to Increase Empathy... Join A Help Her Heal Workshop to Practice the Skills with Cynthia Reetz artwork

Want to Increase Empathy... Join A Help Her Heal Workshop to Practice the Skills with Cynthia Reetz

In this episode, we explore two deeply important areas of healing, protection, and education. First, we dive into the Help Her Heal-Informed Workshop—a powerful experiential program designed for men who want to better understand how to support a partner’s healing after betrayal. Rather than simply teaching concepts, this workshop challenges participants to practice honesty, accountability, and emotionally safe responses in real time. With guidance from three experienced CSAT therapists, men receive coaching, individualized feedback, and multiple professional perspectives that help them move from defensiveness to empathy and repair. We also discuss the growing dangers children face online, including harmful exposure, grooming, and the emotional impact of what many kids encounter in digital spaces. A major focus of this work is helping parents, therapists, and professionals understand why proactive conversations with children matter so deeply—especially because children often do not disclose what they have seen or experienced online. Through education and practical guidance, this conversation equips adults to better protect, support, and connect with kids in an increasingly complex digital world. At the heart of both topics is the same mission: helping families respond effectively to pain, vulnerability, and healing through education, awareness, and compassionate action.
