...we found out who Kamo is PT3.

Ladies and gentlemen, we're back with another Kamo special!!! For those of you still wondering who Kamo is? Kamo' man (see what we did there), it's been two episodes... Its okay we believe in third chances. SHE IS a UCT radio host, a familiar voice behind various UCT productions, but most importantly a friend of the podcast. The two previous episodes focused on her experiences with the various pillars of identity, namely family, religion, relationships, culture and society. In this episode we build on our discussion by introducing the question of how changing her environment has tested her identity. We uncover the parts of her identity that were unshaken despite the change, and also those that were tempted by the influences of peer pressure, as many of us find to be a common experience especially within the university setting. The relevance of the questions asked exceed their settings as many of us find ourselves having to face them at various stages of our lives given that environmental changes follow the seasons of our lives. We found this episode in particular to be deeply moving and hope you find it to be that way as well. Ladies and gentlemen, part 2 is officially here!!! You guys have been asking and we've delivered. We are once again joined by a friend, a UCT radio host, and a familiar voice behind various UCT productions, she goes by Kamogelo Maponya. In the previous episode we had a in-depth discussion about the influence of family and religion on Kamo's identity. During the episode she highlights the education culture in her family, her evolution from being raised Christian to choosing Christ for herself, dealing with the stigma of coming from a divorced family, and so much more. In this episode, there's a shift in focus to the influence of relationships, culture and society. She opens up about the impact of surface level friendships in comparison to deep, meaningful ones. She touches on the societal implications of growing up as a girl, and her willingness to learn about her culture despite not growing up culturally rooted. Ladies and gentlemen, this is it!!! You guys have been asking and we've delivered. This episode is the first of its kind. Drum roll please... We have our very first guest!!!!! The wonderful Kamogelo Maponya. She joins us for a four part special episode where we discuss the various aspects of identity that we've been touching on in the previous episodes. In this episode, we directed our primary focus on the influence that family and religion has had on Kamo's experience with identity. We look into the effects of growing up in a divorced household; her position in the order of siblings; her grandfather being a pastor and so much more. We are beyond grateful to have been given the opportunity to have such insightful conversations with a long time friend and supporter of the podcast. Often times our purpose is in no way unique, certainly not on a macro level. This realisation can be discouraging or empowering depending on how one chooses to look at it. This episode serves as a reminder that it is okay for our purpose to not be unique, because our contribution to it will always be unique.
