MIDTERM CHECK-INS is officially in session. 📚✨ This week on The Extra Curricular, we’re taking a step back from the noise and checking in with ourselves, our journeys, and the realities of navigating life as folx apart of the LGBTQ+ community. This episode is one of our most personal conversations yet , raw, honest, emotional, funny, uncomfortable at times, but most importantly REAL. From conversations about identity, growing up queer, friendships, dating, and family relationships, to discussing stigmas, expectations, community pressures, self-expression, and healing, absolutely nothing is off the table during this episode. We wanted MIDTERM CHECK-INS to feel like a safe space where we could speak freely about the experiences that have shaped us into who we are today. There are moments in this episode that may resonate deeply with some of you, especially if you’ve ever struggled with feeling accepted, understood, or comfortable enough to fully be yourself. We also touch on the beauty of chosen family, the importance of community, and how different all of our journeys can look while still connecting us together. At the end of the day, this episode is about vulnerability, growth, reflection, and giving queer voices the room to simply exist without judgment. We hope this conversation not only sparks dialogue, but also reminds people that they are never alone in what they’re experiencing. We dive into everything from pop culture moments and industry wins to serious conversations around trans rights, representation, and the way queer culture continues to be used without respect. Detention Talk gets especially real as we unpack allyship, identity, relationships, and the messy situations people don’t always want to talk about... but we do! And of course, we wrap it all up with our Yearbook Awards, celebrating the ones making noise, moving culture forward, and doing it their way.
