S2:E5 "Two Types of Availability"

Two types of Availability Podcast Script – "Two Types of Availability That Change Everything" John: Welcome back to The Leadership Coach Podcast, where we talk about real-life leadership,  personal growth, and the everyday habits that help you win in business and in life. Today, I want to talk about something simple, but powerful — availability.  And no, I’m not just talking about whether your calendar is open or your phone is on.  I’m talking about the two types of availability: 1. Being physically available – showing up in person, ready to do the work. 2. Being mentally available – showing up in mind, focus, and emotional presence. Let’s break these down, because most people are stronger in one than the other — and that gap can hold you back. Topic 1: Physical Availability – The Power of Showing Up Physical availability is the part we see. You’re at work on time. You’re at your kid’s game.  You’re sitting next to your spouse at the dinner table. But here’s the thing — just because you’re there physically doesn’t mean you’re truly there.  Still, the act of showing up matters. In business, if you’re not physically present, you miss opportunities.  As a spouse or friend, if you’re never there, relationships weaken. Physical availability says: “I value this enough to make space for it in my life.” The everyday challenge here? Life pulls us in a million directions. But the truth is — the people who win in leadership, business, and relationships are the ones who keep showing up even when it’s inconvenient. Topic 2: Mental Availability – The Missing Ingredient Now here’s where many of us struggle — we show up, but our minds are somewhere else. You’ve been there: sitting at your desk but scrolling your phone. Listening to your friend, but thinking about your to-do list. Mental availability means giving something or someone your full mental focus. It’s not just about being there — it’s about being present. For leaders, this is huge. A physically available boss can attend meetings, but a mentally available boss hears the concerns, spots the patterns, and makes smart decisions. For relationships? If you’re physically there but mentally absent, the other person feels it. And for yourself? If you’re never mentally available to reflect, recharge, or dream, burnout is coming. Topic 3: The Everyday Balance – Making Space for Both Here’s the hard truth — being physically available without mental presence makes you a body in the room, not a real contributor.  Being mentally available but never physically showing up makes you an idea that never becomes action. The magic happens when both align. The business owner who’s at the meeting and fully engaged in the discussion. The spouse who comes home early and actually listens instead of zoning out. The friend who drives across town and makes you feel heard. The individual who schedules self-care time and actually enjoys it without guilt. Being available physically and mentally says: "I’m here. I’m ready. And I care enough to give you my best self." Call to Action So here’s your challenge for this week: Pick one relationship, one responsibility, and one personal area of your life. Ask yourself: Am I showing up physically? Am I showing up mentally? If one is missing — fix it. Schedule it. Protect it. Because the truth is, the world doesn’t just need more people to show up — it needs more people to show up fully. John:: If today’s episode hit home for you, share it with a friend who might need the reminder. And if you’re ready to grow as a leader — at work and in life — keep tuning in. Until next time, show up in body and in mind… because that’s where real impact happens.

episode S2:E3: Fix The Root, Not The Symptoms artwork

S2:E3: Fix The Root, Not The Symptoms

Podcast Episode: “Fix the Root, Not the Symptom” Opening (2 minutes) “Welcome back to The Leadership Coach Podcast! Today’s episode is all about something I see every day with clients, teams, and even in my own life: We spend too much time fixing symptoms and not enough time fixing the root problem. If you’ve ever said to yourself, ‘I feel stuck. I’ve tried everything. Why isn’t this changing?’ … this episode is for you. I’m going to break this down into three parts: 1. How to recognize the difference between symptoms and root causes. 2. How to ask the right questions to dig deeper. 3. And how to create lasting solutions once you uncover the real issue. So grab a notebook, because this conversation could change the way you lead, work, and even think about your own life.” Part 1: Symptoms vs. Root Cause (6–7 minutes) Story to hook: “Let me start with a simple example. Imagine you walk into your house and there’s water all over the kitchen floor. What’s your first move? Most of us grab a mop or a towel. We clean up the water. But if we never look for the source of the leak… guess what? Tomorrow, there’s water again. That’s exactly how most of us treat problems in business and in life. We clean up the mess, we react to the crisis, but we never go upstairs and patch the hole in the roof.” Symptoms look like: Low motivation Procrastination High turnover in a business Arguments in a relationship Low sales, bad habits, stress “These are NOT the problem. These are the puddles on your floor. They are indicators. Warning lights. The root cause is deeper. It could be: Fear Lack of clarity or purpose Unhealed trauma Ineffective systems A mindset you’ve never challenged If you only treat the symptom, the cycle will repeat.” Pause and speak directly to listener: “So as you’re listening, think: What have I been mopping up instead of fixing?” Part 2: Asking the Right Questions (7–8 minutes) “Alright—how do we find the root? This is where most people get stuck. You can’t discover a root cause with surface-level thinking. You have to ask deeper questions. Here are 3 simple but powerful tools I teach my clients:” Tool #1: The 5 Whys “This is my favorite exercise. Take any issue and ask ‘Why?’ five times. By the time you get to the fourth or fifth why, you’re no longer talking about the puddle—you’re looking at the pipe that burst.” Example: Symptom: ‘My team isn’t motivated.’ Why? ‘They don’t seem engaged.’ Why? ‘They feel like their work doesn’t matter.’ Why? ‘Because I haven’t been communicating vision.’ “The root isn’t laziness. The root is leadership clarity.” Tool #2: What’s Really True? “Sometimes the root hides behind a story we’ve told ourselves. ‘I’m bad with money.’ Is that really true? Or did no one ever teach you financial skills? ‘I’m just not confident.’ Is that true? Or did you stop putting yourself in situations that built your confidence? Challenge your assumptions. Truth lives underneath the story.” Tool #3: What Am I Avoiding? “Most of us know the root but we avoid it. We avoid the hard conversation. We avoid looking at the budget. We avoid admitting we need help. The thing you avoid is often the thing you need to face.” Mini coaching moment: “Take one problem you’re facing right now. Pause this podcast if you need to. Ask yourself: Why is this happening? What’s really true? And what am I avoiding? The answer that makes you uncomfortable? That’s where the root usually lives.” Part 3: Creating Lasting Solutions (6–7 minutes) “Once you uncover the root, the game changes. You stop putting out fires. You build systems that prevent fires. If the root cause is a leadership gap, you fix the structure. If the root cause is fear, you work on courage. If the root cause is lack of clarity, you create a clear plan.”

S2:E2: The Power of Alignment, Intentionality and Sustainability

New Pod 🎙️ PODCAST SCRIPT: "The Power of Alignment, Intentionality & Sustainability" [Intro Music Fades In] What’s up, family? Welcome back to another episode of The Leadership Coach Podcast — the space where personal development meets spiritual grounding, and ambition finds direction. I’m your host, John Roberson alongside my co-host Zana Omar, and today’s episode is going to be a game changer. We’re diving deep into three critical pillars that — when executed together — can completely transform your life: Alignment, Intentionality, and Sustainability. Let’s talk about what happens when you stop operating on autopilot and start living on purpose. 🎯 Segment One: Alignment — The Foundation Let’s start with alignment. Alignment is when your personal life, your business goals, and your spiritual walk are moving in the same direction. It’s when your decisions feel congruent with who you are and what you truly value. It’s when your why and your what are finally on speaking terms. But let’s be real — life happens. Things throw us off course. The grind, the pressure, the distractions — they can knock us out of alignment without us even noticing. And that’s why realignment is just as important. Every high performer — from CEOs to elite athletes — builds in time to realign. When you feel stuck, lost, or off track, don’t quit. Instead, pause and ask: Where am I misaligned? Is it your time management? Your relationships? Your priorities? Your faith? You can’t build a powerful life on a shaky foundation. Alignment is the GPS. And sometimes, you’ve gotta reroute. 🔥 Segment Two: Intentionality — The Fuel Once you’re aligned, it’s time to turn up the heat with intentionality. Intentionality is about doing things on purpose — not out of routine, fear, or convenience. It’s about waking up with clarity and refusing to waste your energy on anything that doesn’t move you closer to your calling. Let me put it this way: You don’t just wake up successful. You build success intentionally — with your habits, your mindset, your focus. When you show up in your business, are you showing up with purpose? When you spend time with your family, are you fully present? When you talk to God, are you just going through the motions or are you actually connecting? Living intentionally means living with standards, not just intentions. You don’t get what you want, you get what you commit to. 🧱 Segment Three: Sustainability — The Discipline Now here’s where most people fall off — sustainability. See, alignment gets you started. Intentionality keeps you focused. But discipline and accountability are what sustain you. Anyone can be motivated for a week. But can you stay consistent for 6 months? Can you keep going even when life gets hard? Can you sustain your growth when nobody’s clapping, when the results are slow, when you're tired? This is where the real work happens. Sustainability is about setting systems, boundaries, and habits that protect your progress. It’s about checking in with yourself — mentally, emotionally, spiritually — and holding yourself accountable when nobody else will. Discipline is freedom. And sustainability is success on repeat. 🎯 Final Thoughts & Call to Action So let me ask you: Are you in alignment right now? Are you being truly intentional with your time and energy? And most importantly — do you have a plan to sustain your growth? Because when you execute on all three — alignment, intentionality, and sustainability — you stop living by default and start living by design. 💥 Here’s your Call to Action: If you’re ready to take control of your life and start walking in purpose, I want you to DM me the word “REALIGNMENT” on Instagram @P510Coaching. Let’s set up a free clarity consultation to get you back on track. You weren’t built to live distracted, disorganized, and drained. You were built for impact. And it starts with taking that first step.

En fantastisk app med et enormt stort udvalg af spændende podcasts. Podimo formår virkelig at lave godt indhold, der takler de lidt mere svære emner. At der så også er lydbøger oveni til en billig pris, gør at det er blevet min favorit app.
