Extraordinary Worship

1 I will extol the Lord at all times;    his praise will always be on my lips.2 I will glory in the Lord;    let the afflicted hear and rejoice.3 Glorify the Lord with me;    let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me;    he delivered me from all my fears.5 Those who look to him are radiant;    their faces are never covered with shame.6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;    he saved him out of all his troubles.7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,    and he delivers them. 8 Taste and see that the Lord is good;    blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.9 Fear the Lord, you his holy people,    for those who fear him lack nothing.10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,    but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.11 Come, my children, listen to me;    I will teach you the fear of the Lord.12 Whoever of you loves life    and desires to see many good days,13 keep your tongue from evil    and your lips from telling lies.14 Turn from evil and do good;    seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,    and his ears are attentive to their cry;16 but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,    to blot out their name from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;    he delivers them from all their troubles.18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted    and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 The righteous person may have many troubles,    but the Lord delivers him from them all;20 he protects all his bones,    not one of them will be broken. 21 Evil will slay the wicked;    the foes of the righteous will be condemned.22 The Lord will rescue his servants;    no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

God Has Revealed Himself To Mankind

The Majesty of God

MEMORIAL DAY A time to Remember

God is Gracious

Jonah’s Anger at the Lord’s Compassion 4 But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry. 2 He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. 3 Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.” 4 But the Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?” 5 Jonah had gone out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen to the city. 6 Then the Lord God provided a leafy plant[a [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=jonah%204&version=NIV#fen-NIV-22575a]] and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the plant. 7 But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the plant so that it withered. 8 When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah’s head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said, “It would be better for me to die than to live.” 9 But God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?” “It is,” he said. “And I’m so angry I wish I were dead.” 10 But the Lord said, “You have been concerned about this plant, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. 11 And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”
