Description

Father Koys takes us on another “brain wrinkling” walk.  Today Father Koys takes tidbits of his various Wednesday episodes and creates a “smorgasbord” of sorts as he discusses various topics.  He comments on the crazy weather we’ve had and its impact to various trees around St. James Parish, then turns to speaking about the nuclear bomb, Iran and the need to keep them from having it.  Father Koys discusses that Iran is a theocracy and addresses what it is, how it impacts the current war as he addresses the various understandings of the Messiah across different religions. This brings him to share a reflection from CS Lewis that references several ills of the world that can bring about death referencing that the nuclear bomb is just another ill added to the mix and that rather than live in fear of the nuclear bomb and dying, we should live prayerfully, joyfully, sharing in the good of the world and doing good.  During the second half of the show, he reflects and unpacks the poem “The Ambulance Down in the Valley”, explaining that it is essentially a lesson on morality.  Father reads the poem and then breaks it down as he draws attention to what we should walk away with.  He ends sharing a story of a family coming in for OCIA, Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, where one shares their confusion over the hierarchy in catholic religion, questioning why we need it, which leads him to discuss the Catholic Hierarchy and its role in teaching and demonstrating that getting directly to God is not an easy way, opening the door to yet another topic for another Brain Wrinkling Wednesday.   St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish [https://ststanschurch.org/]

Episode #4887 Nurturing a Relationship with God

Father Anthony with Tony and Cristina gather to discuss the goings on, and people in the Parish. Father greets everyone and chats about his experience at a funeral a few days past which leads them to discuss catholic cemeteries in the city of Chicago.  Father leads us in prayer and afterwards touches on the point he made on Tuesday’s show: Jesus retreats to the desert and into silence to pray and remain centered on God, we must emulate Jesus and nurture our relationship with God as we face daily challenges trusting in Him.  Father reminds us to be of the things of God living for the better good of others while we avoid being manipulated or dragged into the decisive politics but be bold in speaking the truth of our faith and promoting repentance and living a life in Christ.   St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish [https://ststanschurch.org/]
