For the past four years, Borah High School’s Idaho Battle of the Books team—affectionately known as the Big Friendly Slugs—has taken on the challenge of reading a dozen carefully selected books each year in preparation for fierce literary competition. Kristen, Ella, Abby, Conlin, and Camden are more than competitors—they’re a reminder of what it looks like to be fully engaged, joyfully intellectual, and unapologetically themselves.
