Remember to like and subscribe! Activist and Cultural Facilitator Adeyemi Hinds Repatriated from the UK to Trinidad. Born in Barbados he moved to the UK at age nine, with his mother and two siblings. He describes his first few years in the UK as his 'innocent period' a naive time when he still believed that England was the 'Mother Country'. That all changed when he left school at aged 16 and faced real racism for the first time when trying to get a job. His activism was borne out of the civil rights movement of the 60s and the black power movement in the 70s. Music and all aspects of black culture fed, educated and nurtured his activism which solidified during the Brixton riots. Finding his calling his life became even more about building community and challenging the powers that be. Tune in to hear what prompted him to finally make the decision to repatriate from the UK to Trinidad permanently and how that brought peace to his spirit despite all the new challenges he faced.
