Dr Hosen Kiat joined @NOVA Adelaide’s Weekend Breakfast this morning to discuss longevity, prevention, and the everyday habits that most strongly influence how we age. Drawing on insights from his #1 @Amazon bestselling book Wisdom from Two Worlds, Dr Kiat shared a simple evidence-based framework for healthy ageing - focusing on purpose, rest, social connection, movement, and nutrition, rather than quick fixes or health fads. Thank you to FiveAA Adelaide, Angie McBride and Michael Keelan for the thoughtful conversation.

Healthy Aging Starts Here: The Vitamin D Level That Protects Bones, Muscles & Immunity | Dr Kiat

If I tested your blood today - would your vitamin D level be protecting you, or quietly putting you at risk?   In this episode, Dr Hosen Kiat breaks down the science behind vitamin D: when to test, what’s truly healthy, and the new research showing how the right level can slash diabetes risk by 76%.   Vitamin D isn’t just for bones. It powers your muscles, immune defense, and blood sugar balance, and may be one of the simplest ways to future-proof your health.   🌞 So what’s a Healthy Vitamin D Level? If your vitamin D is below 50 nmol/L (20 ng/mL), it’s too low. 50 nmol/L and above is usually enough for healthy bones. If you’re over 65 or have osteoporosis / chronic illness, aim higher — around 75–125 nmol/L.   People with kidney, liver, gut, or autoimmune conditions should also stay above 50 nmol/L. And if you have prediabetes or blood sugar problems, a slightly higher level may help protect you even more.   Disclaimer: By accessing this channel, you agree to comply with the following terms. Fries, Potatoes & Diabetes Risk: What Science Really Shows | Dr Kiat

With potato shortages hitting shelves across Australia, maybe it’s a good time to rethink how we enjoy them.   🥔 Because according to a major BMJ study tracking over 200,000 people for 20+ years, the risk isn’t from potatoes themselves - it’s from how you cook them.   In this episode, cardiologist Dr Kiat explains how frying turns potatoes into “AGE factories” that accelerate diabetes, heart disease, wrinkles, and even dementia - and how small swaps can lower your diabetes risk by up to 20% without giving up potatoes.     Disclaimer: By accessing this channel, you agree to comply with the following terms.
