S3 E4 : Living and Recovering from Anorexia with Catherine Wesselinoff

☕️  Catherine is a creative writer and academic living in Sydney, Australia. She lectures in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame. She graduated from the University of Oxford in 2012 and her award winning memoir about her experience there, “My Oxford”, was published in 2019.  In her memoir, Catherine delves into an eighteen month period of her life, spanning from her time at Oxford and thereafter, where the intersection of her intellectual life and her mental illness, anorexia, began her descent into being unwell. She takes us on her courageous journey of finding self-love, self-empathy, and her innate acknowledgement of needing help, all of which slowly redirected her to her road to recovery.    Catherine dedicates this memoir as a piece of advice to her younger self, and hopes that it can be a source of comfort to anyone out there - you are not alone. Anorexia is very much a hidden illness, and something society doesn’t acknowledge enough of - we truly believe there is something for everyone to take away from this episode, and that to whoever is reading this, we hope you will have a listen
