Descripción

In this episode of Faith & Practice, we continue our series on The Life of the Church by asking a foundational question: What is the church? Far more than a building, service, or organization, Scripture presents the church as the gathered people of God—redeemed by Christ, united by the Spirit, and sent into the world for His glory. Together, we consider the difference between the universal and local church, what it means to be the people of God, and why gathering with Christ’s body is essential for discipleship, worship, encouragement, and spiritual growth.

Season 1, Episode 4 - The Context of Discipleship

In Episode 4 of Faith & Practice, we explore an important question: Where does discipleship actually happen? Many Christians think of discipleship primarily in terms of church programs, Bible studies, or ministry events, but Scripture presents something much broader. Discipleship happens within the life of the local church and extends into every sphere of everyday life. In this episode, we discuss why the church is God’s primary context for spiritual formation, why Christianity cannot be lived faithfully in isolation, and how discipleship shapes our homes, relationships, work, habits, and daily routines. We also examine the difference between meaningful spiritual experiences and the biblical reality of the church, the dangers of a “just me and Jesus” mentality, and why ordinary believers—not just pastors—are called to make disciples. Finally, we consider how faithful discipleship naturally multiplies as Christians intentionally invest in helping others follow Christ.
