Ep. 11. Tom Beaupre: Bass Player + Financial Advisor

Introducing...Tom Beaupre! Tommy and I were roommates at Bloomsburg University and we connected over our shared faith in God and love for music. The times we spent playing shows in college bars and coffee shops are some of my fondest memories. Tom worked hard to put himself out there in the music industry in Nashville, and got a great opportunity to play bass for Florida Georgia Line. He currently plays bass for Luke Bryan and is also providing wealth management as a financial advisor. We had a great conversation talking about faith, purpose, and leadership...here are some highlights! CHASING PURPOSE THROUGH MUSIC * How a small college gig sparked Tom’s dream to pursue music professionally * The early days of moving to Nashville with no guarantees * Why grit mattered more than talent * The mindset shift from “artist” to simply wanting to play music “I wasn’t the most talented but I was the most willing to stick it out.” FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP & RESPONSIBILITY * The surprising story of Tom’s college budget written on a whiteboard * Lessons learned from his mother about money and debt * Why many musicians struggle financially even after finding success * How music eventually led Tom into financial advising “People are handed tools they haven’t been taught how to wield yet.” PURPOSE, IDENTITY & CALLING * How defining success changes your life * The power of writing goals down * Why people are often afraid to be beginners * The connection between identity and habits “You are what you tell people you are.” FAITH, ACCOUNTABILITY & SPIRITUAL GROWTH * Growing up Catholic and navigating different expressions of faith * Why accountability and authentic friendships matter * Staying grounded in the music industry * Learning not to place faith in human leaders “If your faith is in a building, a name, or a person… eventually someone’s going to let you down.” LEADERSHIP & INFLUENCE * Leading from behind the scenes * The importance of being solutions-driven instead of complaint-driven * Why communication matters in leadership * What it means to “lead yourself first” “Little things add up to big things.”
