Feral Philosophy Podcast
In this episode, I speak with David Thurfjell about secularization, modernity, and why so many people—particularly young men—struggle to find meaning in societies that are freer and more prosperous than ever before. We explore the paradox of modern life: how greater individual freedom has brought extraordinary opportunities while also contributing to loneliness, fragmentation, and a growing sense of existential uncertainty. Drawing on history, sociology, psychology, and the study of religion, we discuss Sweden's experience as one of the world's most secular societies, the relationship between modernization and spirituality, and why religion continues to shape human life even as traditional belief declines. Along the way, we explore nature, community, ritual, identity, mental health, and the search for transcendence in an increasingly individualistic world. We also examine why young people are reporting unprecedented levels of anxiety and meaninglessness, and whether modern societies have unintentionally dismantled many of the structures that once gave life coherence and purpose. ------------------------------------------- See the Feral Philosophy YouTube channel HERE [https://www.youtube.com/@FeralPhilosophy_mw/videos] Support the Feral Philosophy mission by donating through Crowdfunder [https://embodimentunlimited.com/crowdfunder/] Want to become a certified embodiment coach?
