Descripción

In this episode of Hello Hollis, I’m going a little deeper on something I touched on in the last episode around the idea of “once in a lifetime.” I really have thought more about how our brains and bodies often push back against the very things we say we want, especially when those things feel bigger, more expansive, or outside of what we’re used to. My recent trip to England and Ireland with my family felt like what you’d want to label “once in a lifetime” because it can actually be a way of keeping ourselves safe and contained instead of allowing for more of it. We get into how this shows up in everyday life and business too, from how we think about travel to something as simple as having slow mornings. I share a conversation with a client that really highlights how uncomfortable it can feel to imagine having what we want all the time, and why that discomfort is worth paying attention to. This episode is an invitation to start noticing your language, question the limits you might be placing on yourself, and get curious about what you actually want your baseline to be.

Baseball with me: What rhubarb has to do with your lifestyle content

In this episode of Hello Hollis, I’m getting into something that I think is holding so many of us back from showing up consistently in our content. It’s this obsession with whether people even care about what we’re posting. I talk about why lifestyle content and b-roll isn’t there for your audience to share your interests or love what you love. It’s there to create a backdrop of who you are, what you care about, and what your life actually looks like. And yes, I’m using rhubarb as my example, because I am deep in a rhubarb era and I refuse to apologize for it. The real shift happens when you stop asking yourself if people are going to care about what you’re doing in your videos, and start asking yourself if they’re getting to know you. Because that’s the point. Not the rhubarb. You. I talk about all those drafts sitting in your folder collecting digital cobwebs, the overthinking, the second guessing, and why the question you’re asking yourself is the wrong one entirely. Your lifestyle content is the foundation of your personal brand. It is not the punchline. It is the backdrop. And the sooner you embrace that, the more freely and consistently you’ll show up.

Walk with Me: Unconscious permission

In this episode of Hello Hollis, I’m diving into the concept of unconscious permission and how the way we show up in our lives has far more influence than we think. I talk about that instinct we all have to want other people to change and how frustrating it can feel when they don’t. But the real shift happens when we turn inward. Instead of trying to control or fix someone else, I talk about how choosing to live in alignment with what we actually want becomes the most powerful catalyst for change, both for ourselves and for the people around us. I share how simply being who you want to be and doing what you feel called to do gives others a kind of silent permission to do the same. It is not about forcing or convincing anyone, it is about leading by example in a way that creates possibility. I want you to notice where you are already being that example, to take inspiration from others doing what you desire, and to see it all as proof that what you want is available to you too!

Walk with Me in England: Why this isn’t a “once in a lifetime” trip

In this episode of Hello Hollis, I’m out on a walk while traveling through England and Ireland with my husband and kids, reflecting on a phrase we use all the time: “once in a lifetime.” This trip is deeply meaningful, returning to places I once lived, introducing my children to people and experiences that shaped me, and it would be so easy to label it as a one-time, bucket-list moment. But the more I sit with it, the more I realize I don’t want it to be. I share why I’m intentionally shifting away from that kind of language and how calling something “once in a lifetime” can quietly limit what we believe is possible. Instead, I’m choosing to see this as something we get to create again, because this is the life I’m building my business around. This episode is a reminder that you’re allowed to want more of what you love, and that the goal isn’t rare, one-off moments, it’s creating a life where those experiences become part of your normal.
