Her Side of the Stories
Some women look like they have everything together. The career, the marriage, the children, the life that seems strong from the outside. But behind closed doors, they are quietly falling apart. Canay Atalay was successful, respected, married, a mother of two young girls, and leading in a world where people saw her as strong and capable. But at home, life looked completely different. She was living with a husband who was struggling with alcohol addiction, trying to protect her children, hiding what was really happening from almost everyone, and waking up every morning with what she describes as darkness. I think that is the part so many women will understand in some way. Not the exact story, maybe. But the feeling of holding a life together from the outside, while somewhere inside you know you are slowly disappearing. In this episode of Her Side of the Stories, I sit with Canay Atalay, founder of RegenerateX and curator of Heart Masters Ibiza. Through her work, she helps people and organisations create positive change through leadership, innovation and a more conscious way of looking at life. We talk about marriage, motherhood, addiction, shame, divorce, court battles, and the moment she looked in the mirror and no longer recognised herself. We talk about the pressure to look successful. The loneliness of hiding what is really going on. And the strange way we can keep functioning, keep working, keep mothering, keep smiling, while something inside us is completely exhausted. But this conversation is also about what happened after. How Canay moved from anger to peace. How she learned to listen differently. How she rebuilt her relationship with the father of her children. And how their divorce eventually became part of a legal shift in Turkey around common custody. 🧡
