What Happens When Your Loved One Disappears: A Candid Discussion with Law Enforcement Officers

What happens when a person vanishes? Out of the many families I have interviewed, a large majority of them tell me they don't understand the laws surrounding missing persons, law enforcement agents don't communicate well with them, or the police simply don't care enough. So, I decided that it was time to feature a podcast surrounding the various laws regarding missing people; more importantly, getting a perspective from law enforcement agents. I had the honor of interviewing two officers, one remained anonymous while the other was willing to share his first name. Dylan Ehler was 3 years old when he suddenly vanished from his grandmother's home in Truro, Nova Scotia, a maritime province in Canada.  Dylan's parents have tirelessly been searching for Dylan every weekend for the last year and in between doing fundraising, making flyers, and meeting with media to try to get his story out into the public.  The Truro police department is holding onto the theory that Dylan was swept away in the water near his grandmother's home, but Dylan's parent's don't exclude the theory that he may have been kidnapped. 57 year old Steven Chandler went missing from Yakima, Washington some time between 2019 and 2020.  After his daughter filed a missing persons report she found out that her dad hadn't accessed his bank accounts in almost a year. Missing from Newport, Washington. Melinda Lopez's Story
