76 episodiosThis past week I have been wrestling. Wrestling with my Christian response to everything that is happening right now in our government, in our country, in our province. God, when do I stand, when do I wait? The biggest thing I am personally feeling (and I do believe we all have to go to God for that answer for our own families) is that there are some battles that matter and some that are merely distractions. I get this picture of positioning and preparation. Suit up, pray up, get in the Word… be full of peace and ready for battle. Prepare, active waiting, watching, and listening for that moment when God calls me to the frontlines. There is such a variety of responses right now: fear, anger, anxiety, hatred. I may not know what response everyone is called to, but I do know that the Bible is very clear that we are not to be full of hatred nor full of fear. Neither of those are godly fruit in our lives. So instead, I encourage you to not let yourself get stirred up by anyone and instead get stirred up by God. Let’s just talk about it . . . The post What Should We Do? Have you ever faced a season in your life where you just feel lost in a sea of mud? Maybe you are facing judgement and condemnation, maybe you are feeling pressured or rejected, maybe you are busy and overwhelmed. Whatever the situation is, the idea of running your race can feel downright daunting. In today’s long-overdue podcast, I share from the perspective of someone who is making all kinds of mistakes. I share my current season and my own doubts and insecurities. And I share both for my own sake and for anyone else who is there in the trenches with me, proclamations of truth that I need to ground myself in to make it through. We are not alone. We are not abandoned. We aren’t called to anyone else’s race. Keep your eyes on Jesus and Him alone. Today’s episode is all about the tongue. In our reading through the rest of 1 Samuel this week and David’s psalms and praises, I have been so struck by the power of our words. From declaring who God is, to declaring to our soul, to speaking truth, to being for peace… it can be incredibly difficult to remember that our words are powerful and also ascertain when to use them. During this episode I share a story of when I stood against something and why as well as why I often stay silent on other issues. This episode doesn’t have all the answers and it won’t give you a formula for when to speak because there isn’t one. But, through scripture, it is a reminder to use our words wisely and to ultimately submit our very thoughts and tongues to God’s will and use them for His glory. Let’s talk about it! In our Bible reading plan (which you can download for free by the way) we have been reading about David, who was known as being a man after God’s own heart. And it made me ponder why. Why was he called that? Who were the “greats” in the Bible, the fierce women in the Bible, and what traits set them apart? How can we learn from them and cultivate that kind of relationship with God? This episode is my heart to run after Him: fierce and bold and caring more about what He says than what the world says. How to be counter culture in a society where peer pressure is so much more intense than what it was just a mere 20 years ago. How to stand firmly on who He is calling me to be. I actually recorded this podcast last week but have been so busy I never got around to posting it. For anyone wanting the most instantaneous podcast updates, I am now posting them first in my free app: Gather ‘Round Homeschool as soon as they are done simply because I don’t have to write a blog post to go with it so it is fast and easy. However, this also means that I can for sure promise you another episode next Wednesday and even tease you a little bit about it! He Is Close is my journey in the midst of craziness and busyness such as I have never experienced before. It is the faithfulness of God despite my lack, the closeness of Him even when I feel distant. He is so good my friends, and I hope that my testimony of what God has been doing in my life is encouraging to you in the midst of your own season, whatever that may be.
