The Average Behold Glory

Passage: Luke 2:8-20 This morning we look at the glory of Christ’s birth in three ways: It was intended for Jews first, then for all; it prompted a swift response on the part of the shepherds, and the glory of Christ’s birth was revealed to the average person.

The Most Exraordinary Normal Birth

Passage: Luke 2:1-7 Continuing in our study of Christ’s birth as recorded in Luke, today we look at three things the account teaches us.  One, it shows who was really in power.  You could intuit a power struggle between Herod and Jesus, but there was none from God’s perspective.  Two, Christ’s birth was a humble birth, but a royal one.  And three, Christ’s birth reminds us of His death.  Recall that there were wrappings at His birth, and also at His death, for example.

The Real Nativity Story

Passage: Luke 2:1-20 Western culture has redefined the story of Jesus’ birth.  You know, three wise men, Joseph and Mary at an inn, Joseph attending the birth, all that stuff.  From our text this morning we’ll get the Scriptural account, and divide it up as, The Travel, The Birth, and The Wise Men.
