Descripción

The heat is relentless and the ground is cracking, and it is having an extraordinary effect on harvest. In this episode the milling wheat moisture crashes from over 20% to below 10% in a matter of days, the lowest James has cut in his whole career, and we get the combines into it before the weather takes anything away. We take an honest look at what farming in a drought really means, from tiny, short crops to disappointing pea and spring cropping yields, and why it is prompting a rethink of the rotation. There is plenty going on behind the combines too. We check the results of a nitrogen trial line by line, follow the straw and baling operation as it races to keep up with the fast changing crop, and get an update on the new fertiliser store as the tanks go in, along with the frustrating reality of trying to buy fertiliser in an uncertain world. We also take a moment to enjoy the best of it, the bales out in the field, the view across the farm, and a team in full flow. From record low moisture to an honest look at a difficult season, this is another look behind the scenes of a modern farming business. Cutting Wheat on the 7th of July, the Earliest We Have Ever Started

It is the 7th of July, and we are cutting wheat. That is the earliest we have ever started in a whole career of farming, and a sign of just how much this hot, dry summer has brought everything forward. In this episode we take the very first wheat off, check the early moisture, bushel weights and protein, and place our bets on what the yield is going to be before the result is revealed. Between fields there is a huge amount to catch up on. We continue the careful job of putting right the land damaged by the infrastructure projects crossing the farm, and take an honest look at the lasting yield hit we expect to see for years to come. We also get the fertiliser store secured with its new gate, press on with the soil and lime work ahead of the oilseed rape, and keep the straw and baling operation moving. There are updates too on the tyre trials and the warranty conversation, and a look at some of the clever kit that keeps the straw coming in whatever the weather. From our earliest ever start to the last of the barley ground being put right, this is another look behind the scenes of a modern farming business. Barley Harvest Complete, the Range Rover Winner Revealed and a Field Fire Averted

The barley harvest is in the shed, and the big question of the year is finally answered. In this episode we reveal the results of our hybrid against conventional trial, and after nine weeks of drought the yields are better than we dared hope. With the combines blown down, attention turns to the cultivations and the careful job of putting right the damage left behind by the infrastructure projects crossing the farm. There is plenty happening away from the fields too. We take a close look at a tractor track conversion system and the numbers behind it, get into a frustrating tyre failure and warranty battle, and meet more of the harvest team and hear their stories. We also draw the Range Rover raffle at last and find out who has won the keys, with a good sum raised for charity in the process. And then there is the moment that could have been a disaster, when a spark in a dry field started a fire with the wind blowing towards standing wheat, and some quick thinking saved the day. From the first yields to a lucky escape, this is another look behind the scenes of a modern farming business. Harvest 2026 Is Underway, the First Barley Yields Are In

Get Your Tickets - https://pxfarms.myshopify.com/products/range-rover-raffle-ticket Harvest 2026 is properly underway, and the first barley is coming into the store. In this episode we get the full field by field picture of how the crop is yielding after nine weeks of drought, and the early results are more encouraging than we feared. We also explain a costly quirk of this year, with the grain coming in so dry that we are losing weight and value, and the clever solution we have found to win some of that back over the winter. Out in the field the whole operation is in full flow, with four combines, the chaser bins and the lorries all working together, and a brilliant team settling into the rhythm. We get into the detail that makes the difference, from a new tyre trial and our move to 48 metre tram lines, to the big test of the year, hybrid barley against conventional, and what it could mean going forward. There is also time to enjoy the best bit of the whole year, watching the store fill up, an honest word on the accounts and grain prices, and a final reminder about the Range Rover raffle for charity before Friday's draw. From the first yields to the team bringing it in, this is another look behind the scenes of a modern farming business. Harvest 2026 is finally here, and the combines are rolling into the barley.
