Retro Sleepover
Its 1994 and you walk into a crowded Blockbuster video on a Friday night. It's the weekend and you have to gear up with movies to watch. No new releases -- it's a madhouse over there. Straight to the back, past comedies, past video game rentals. Ah, horror -- just what the doctor ordered! Everyone says horror is dead - the new Jason and Freddy movies sucked. It looks like there might be some good stuff here though. What's this Kevin Bacon movie with the giant worm? In this episode of the podcast we have a detailed discusson on the old saying, "Scream saved horror." Did it? Did horror need to be saved? We are going to deep dive into the horror movies of 1990-1995 and try and find out why this thought is out there and what may have caused it. We have two -- count em, TWO -- sleepover guests tonight, Jay of the Dead and Gillman Joel, both long time horror podcasters to discuss this topic. IAre you ready to get real nerdy about horror movies? While you can find all three of us together at Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies [https://www.newhorrormovies.com/] , you can also get horror cred by listening to Jay's OTHER horror movie podcast (yes, he needs TWO), Horror Movie Weekly [https://horrormovieweekly.com/]. Aside from his podcasting duties, Gillman Joel has his own video store on Youtube - Mom and Pop Video Shop [https://www.youtube.com/@momandpopvideoshop] - subscribe for great retro video rental goodness!
