Descripción

In April 2026, I had a chat with Vera, a UK-trained Italian SLP and Kim, an American teacher, both of whom are living and working in Milan, Italy.   You may know that Milan recently hosted the Winter Olympics and that it’s also Italy’s fashion capital. But did you also know that the iconic Duomo di Milano took nearly six centuries to complete? If you find yourself in Milan, make sure you take a tour of not only the inside of the cathedral, but the rooftop as well.  Grab your passport, pack your bags and get ready to come on an audio adventure to learn what life is like as a UK-trained Italian SLP and an American teacher in Italy 🇮🇹. SLPs Overseas is an independently produced podcast. I record, edit and publish episodes while working full-time as an SLP (and travelling, of course!) Portada del episodio A British SLP in New Zealand (Nelson)

A British SLP in New Zealand (Nelson)

In May 2026, I had a chat with Grace, a British SLP living and working in Nelson, New Zealand. Nelson is at the top of New Zealand’s South Island. You might know that the Marlborough wine region is on the South Island. But did you also know that Nelson is home to the “Centre of New Zealand” monument? Well, technically, the geographic centre of New Zealand is about 60 kilometres southwest of Nelson. The monument in Nelson that you can visit today was the starting point for the first land surveys of New Zealand in the 1870s.  Grab your passport, pack your bags and get ready to come on an audio adventure to learn what life is like as a British SLP in New Zealand 🇳🇿. You can find Grace on Instagram at thecuriousspeechie [https://www.instagram.com/thecuriousspeechie/]. SLPs Overseas is an independently produced podcast. British and American Teachers in Australia (Melbourne)

In May 2026, I had a chat with Victoria (originally from the UK) and Katie (from the USA), two teachers who are now living and working in Melbourne, Australia. You may know that Melbourne is the birthplace of Kylie Minogue and the self-proclaimed coffee capital of the world. But did you also know that it’s where the ever-divisive bread spread, Vegemite, was created? Some resources mentioned in this episode include: 📱E-SIMs: Having an e-SIM makes staying connected while abroad so much easier. There are loads of e-SIM companies out there. I’ve used Mobi Matter a few times. If you check them out, feel free to use my referral code “ERIN.77880” to get 50% cashback (up to $5) on your first purchase.  💸Travel money card: I use Wise and absolutely LOVE it. When you sign up to Wise, use my referral link so they know I sent you: https://wise.com/invite/irhc/erinw445 [https://wise.com/invite/irhc/erinw445] You can follow Victoria’s Instagram account here [https://www.instagram.com/victorias__doing_victoria/] and join Katie’s Facebook group here [https://www.facebook.com/groups/1268838804438663].  SLPs Overseas is proudly independently produced by The Cognosco Group.
