Episode 5 – The Lost Episode

Thought to have been lost shortly after the recording in the autumn of 2017, this classic edition was recently rediscovered at the back of the Sonic Yarns store cupboard.  This is real Indiana Jones treasure-hunter stuff, folks! In this episode,  regular hosts Ed, Will and Sam take you through recent (ish!) gigs and musical adventures. [https://i0.wp.com/sonicyarns.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/sonic-yarns-recording-ep5.jpg?resize=525%2C350&ssl=1] Will has been hanging out with Australian metal band Twelve Foot Ninja [http://twelvefootninja.com/] and shows us his finest Ozzie accent too boot, eh mate! There’s a big old group hug for Bonono [http://bonobomusic.com/]as we ask ‘do really span the intergenerational gap’? And WFT is the inter-generational gap anyway? Ed gives a run-down review of a couple of UK music festivals. Friends of the show The Fox and Owl played the south-UK fest produced by Danny of Arkadia Events – you should follow them here onFacebook [https://www.facebook.com/The-Fox-and-the-Owl-1552869161636312/]and Instagram. [https://www.instagram.com/foxyowls/] All these goodies plus loads of tune talk, tales and chuckles from the gang. As always, have your say onTwitter [https://twitter.com/SonicYarns] or Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/SonicYarns/]. We love hearing from you, whether you agree with us, or if you think we’re talking a load of old balls. Get involved!

Episode 4 – Special guest: Danny

In this episode of free-wheeling music chat, your hosts Ed, Will and Sam are joined by Ed’s long-time friend Danny. This is a very special show, with tons of cracking stories from Danny. Like when he saw a New Model Army gig in New York and played ‘spot the europeans’ at the end (hint: try looking in the mosh pit). Or when he rugby-tackled an angry Canadian (who new they existed!). And the one where he phoned Ed while broadcasting a live weekly radio show, and was treated to the sound of a chainsaw down the line. All of this plus lots of great music recommendations, both new and old. Featured this week: Jim James, Kate Tempest, Billy Bragg, Devin Townsend, and many more. There’s something for everyone in this episode. Well, there is if you’re at least 25 years old ;0) [https://i0.wp.com/sonicyarns.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/episode-4-hosts.jpg?resize=525%2C320&ssl=1] To find out more about the Purbeck Valley Folk Festival  – 24th to 27th August 2017 – visit http://www.purbeckvalleyfolkfestival.co.uk/ [http://www.purbeckvalleyfolkfestival.co.uk/]. There might still be a few tickets left, but don’t hang around as they sell like hot cakes every year. You can see some of the amazing lino print art created by Phillip  – a.k.a. Wooden Spoon Press – by visiting https://woodenspoonpress.com/artwork/lino-with-graphics/. His Instagram account is well worth a follow. Episode 3 – NYE OAPs and MP3s

Get ready for more of the free-wheeling music chat from your hosts Ed, Will and Sam. Jumping straight in with a lesson for Will in New Year’s Eve activities for the over 30s, Jools Holland and the hootenanny gets a look in. Love podcasts as much as we do? We have recommendations for you, including Radio Wolfgang, Meat and Dairy Network and lots more. Would you choose the red or blue pill? We picked neither, preferring a fist pumping Propellerheads track from classic sci-fi movie The Matrix. Bet this gets you head-nodding where ever you are listening. We’ve got Radiohead on guitars, Jonnie Cash and his Ring of Fire, a vinyl love-in, and we ponder whether PJ Harvey is our Dorset neighbour. And controversial topic of the day: is it time to bin your CDs and move over to streaming instead? Have your say onTwitter [https://twitter.com/SonicYarns] or Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/SonicYarns/]. Episode 2 – Husky and Dusky

For the second episode of Sonic Yarns, your hosts Ed, Will and Sam have moved to a new permanent recording studio – formerly Ed’s spare bedroom. There’s loads of music chat as usual. Tracks mentioned  this time include an absolute classic from Massive Attack, a slightly awkward Cate Le Bon number and plenty of bopping to a track from Dusky. Plus, Will pop’s his cherry at the ‘Opera House’ (now the O2 Bournemouth), while Sam goes all retro about The Cat Empire, Ben Harper and Xavier Rudd gigs. Oh, and there’s a lot of dancing this time too. [https://i2.wp.com/sonicyarns.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/IMG_20170222_210525.jpg?resize=525%2C394&ssl=1] Hope you enjoy the show.
