That's Not Very Ladylike
Women in the United States could not open a bank account without a man's permission until 1974. They could be denied credit for being female. They could be fired for getting pregnant. And the things we know actually support women financially, education, independent income, access to credit, the ability to leave, are exactly the things women have been guided, pressured, and sometimes forced away from for generations. In this episode I get into why women are not falling into poverty. They are being kept in the conditions that guarantee it. What those conditions look like, how they get dressed up as love and protection, and why refusing to stay is still considered the unladylike choice. The last thing you need is one more reason to stay small. Know the system. Name it. And that's the most unladylike thing of all.
