Know Who You Are

Jesus’ baptism marked the beginning of his public ministry. All members of the Trinity are present as the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus, the Son, and the Father’s voice speaks words of affirmation. As Jesus would soon face testing in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-13), he begins his ministry knowing his identity as a Beloved Son. All followers of Jesus can have this same assurance as we go on mission, because we have been adopted into God’s family and are His daughters and sons.

Better Together

Scripture does not refer to the church as “the individuals of God” but rather “the people of God.” He has chosen us as his special possession and bonded us to one another – so that we might be on mission together with Him. Together, we are able to more effectively point the world toward God’s glory. We celebrate that each of us brings diverse attributes and spiritual gifts to this mission, and the entire body becomes stronger because of those contributions.
