Descripción

Welcome back to The Knock Podcast. In Part 1 of this incredible testimony, Bobby and Gerrad sit down with a member of their own church home team, Edward Leber. Edward shares a story that completely defies medical logic, beginning with a heart attack at just 18 hours old. After being care-flighted to Dallas Children's Hospital and spending six weeks in the ICU, Edward was greenlit for a heart transplant. However, after contracting spinal meningitis, he was deemed too unhealthy to receive the new heart. In an amazing turn of events, his failing heart built its own "collaterals"—additional veins or arteries—to bypass the blockage, allowing him to heal and eventually go home without a single surgery. Beyond the medical anomaly, the guys dive deep into the emotional weight of medical anxiety, the power of his family's faithful mantra to "expect miracles," and the profound difference between shaking your fist at God to ask "why" versus rejoicing in the positive "why" of His blessings. This episode is a powerful reminder that while we may face physical limitations, God equips us to do exactly what we were created to do. If this story stirs something in you—pray on it. If you're searching for more—lean in. Because God is always knocking. The question is: will you answer? Episode 39 - The Myth of the "Perfect Christian" & The Battle for Purity | Brandon Johnson (Part 2)

After surviving a chaotic childhood and fighting a fierce battle for purity, Brandon Johnson faced a completely different kind of crucible: a heartbreaking valley that tested his faith to its absolute core. In Part 2 of this incredibly transparent interview, 2Rivers Associate Pastor Brandon Johnson continues his conversation with Bobby and Gerrad to discuss what happens when life completely falls apart and God's answer isn't the earthly miracle you desperately prayed for. Brandon opens up with raw vulnerability about the sudden loss of his sister to stage 4 cancer, the crushing weight of regret, and how easily grief can drive us toward unhealthy coping mechanisms. He breaks down the dangerous reality of spiritual isolation, the radical shift in perspective that allowed him to finally forgive his biological dad, and what it looks like to trust God's sovereignty when you're standing in the middle of the pain. Plus, Brandon explains why "preaching the gospel to yourself daily" is an absolute necessity for every believer to guard against legalism and remember their true identity. Episode 39 - The Myth of the "Perfect Christian" & The Battle for Purity | Brandon Johnson (Part 1)

Growing up in a household plagued by addiction and domestic violence, Brandon Johnson realized early on that a "Christian family" label means nothing if the home is fundamentally broken. But instead of driving him away from faith, that dysfunction pushed him directly into the arms of God. In Part 1 of this incredibly transparent interview, 2Rivers Associate Pastor Brandon Johnson sits down with Bobby and Gerrad to dismantle the "country club" mentality of the modern church. Brandon shares his powerful journey from a teenager running toward God to entering full-time ministry, while openly discussing his darkest hidden struggle: a fierce, multi-year battle with lust and sexual temptation. He breaks down the "dead raccoon" analogy of hidden sin, the vast difference between instant deliverance and the grueling process of progressive healing, and why setting radical guardrails is the ultimate form of love and marital protection. Episode 38 - Why God Closes Doors & Choosing to Do Hard Things with Sully Luepke (Part 2)

What happens when God puts you in a physical "timeout"? After years of burying his struggles with bulimia, jealousy, and chasing validation, Sully Luepke found himself in a deep hole of his own making. Then, in 2023, his body completely broke down—forcing him to sit still and finally listen. In the raw and explosive conclusion of this two-part series, Sully opens up about the hidden battles that nearly destroyed him. He explains the terrifying reality of losing everything he loved, including his physical ability to run and train, as God forced him into a season of deep isolation to grab his attention. Sully details the grueling but beautiful process of rebuilding his life from the ground up: auditing out toxic relationships, leaning on community (including a pivotal wake-up call from Will Bates), and using the Ten Commandments as his ultimate baseline for a good life. Episode 38 - Why God Closes Doors & Choosing to Do Hard Things | Sully Luepke (Part 1)

Sully Luepke is known for doing extremely hard things—like running seven marathons on seven continents in seven days—to show people what they are truly capable of. But long before the extreme physical endurance, Sully had to navigate the mental and spiritual crucibles of closed doors and tragic loss. In Part 1 of this powerful interview, Sully joins Bobby and Gerrad to share his journey from a strict, church-going childhood in Wisconsin to discovering a personal relationship with God through "Grilled Cheese and Jesus" during Air Force basic training. The guys dive deep into the necessity of taking action in your faith, the painful but necessary reality of God "auditing" relationships out of our lives, and the heavy anger Sully felt toward God after the devastating loss of a military friend in 2015. This is Part 1 of Sully's incredible story. Subscribe and turn on notifications so you don't miss Part 2 next week, where Sully reveals the specific, raw struggles that finally brought him to his knees in total surrender.
