E105 - Where did you put my water? In money, liquidity and asset location are first cousins. You can’t be sure of one without being sure of the other. Both can speed up or slow down your access to cash. It’s important that you understand how liquid your money is. Simply put, you want it to be there when you need it. In this episode J.J. tries to make this as simple as possible to understand. No, we are not kidding. He really does try. How well he did, that’s another story entirely! One quick note, when J.J. talks about frozen assets he is not talking about how the term is normally used like when the government freezes your assets because you have been naughty. If you are naughty we assume you don’t listen to this podcast. That is the correct use of the term frozen. Here we just use the term to describe the least liquid of your assets. We just wanted to clarify that so you didn’t look silly when talking to your fellow podcast fans.

E102 - Is golf like investing?

E102 - Is golf like investing? In golf, you have a club for every situation. In investing, you have an investment for every job in your portfolio. But what if you could only have 1 golf club? Which one would you choose? I decided to try the same thing with investing. If I could have only 1 ETF, which one would I choose? Not that I think this is a good idea. I have a golf bag full of clubs and a portfolio full of investments. I just think it’s a thought experiment that is fun and might be educational. Hopefully you think so too! Investments discussed in this episode: * VOO - Vanguard S&P 500 ETF * VTI - Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund ETF * VT - Vanguard Total World Stock Index Fund ETF * AOA - iShares Core 80/20 Aggressive Allocation ETF * AOR - iShares Core 60/40 Balanced Allocation ETF
