Legionnaires Outbreak, Public Safety Expansion Announcement, Fleet Week Spotlight

The legionnaire’s disease cluster on the upper east side has grown to 36 cases. NYCDOH has said people that have visited the area recently and are experiencing flu-like symptoms should contact a healthcare provider immediately. WFUV’s Mia Barth explains more. Governor Kathy Hochul said she’s expanding emergency communications systems, public safety call-taking, and dispatching. Reportedly, 110 million dollars in state funding will go towards these improvements. WFUV’s Giuliana Guarracino has more. Mayor Mamdani announced faster buses across the five boroughs, along with improving the rider experience by adding more benches, accessibility stops and keeping the bus lanes clean. NYC Braces for Floods, Gov. Hochul Funds Police Tech, and Senegal World Cup Spotlight

Heavy rain could cause flooding in New York City and the surrounding area tonight. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for the tri-state area, and flash flood warnings for parts of Brooklyn and Long Island.
