Globally celebrated Australian rug brand Armadillo is driven by ethics as well as aesthetics. Sally and her Armadillo cofounder, Jodie Fried, established The Armadillo Foundation to provide educational, environmental and healthcare initiatives in their weavers’ communities. Both women feel strongly about giving back and, since 2014, Armadillo has fully funded the co-ed Kantilal Vidya Mandir (KVM) School in one of India’s main rug making regions. From the school books and uniforms to staff salaries and solar panels – all expenses are met from sales of Armadillo’s rugs. The foundation also provides full 9-year scholarships for the three top performing girls and the top boy, enabling them to attend a local English-medium school and have bigger dreams for their futures.
